It is a good bit of software ( according to reviews) that is free? Is that not a "Freebies deal" ?!??

Thought I had put it in Freebies, apologies. Thanks for the move.

Have had this on my computer for about a yr and a half and really like it, finds viruses that others miss.

its the best there is for anti malware
always scan in safe mode for the best results and always update it first before scanning.
switch on/enable the live protection module so it blocks bad websites/hakers etc
(edit)
but i think ya cant use the live protection module usin the free version as i have the pro version so i might be wrong.

Live protection is only for the pro version, yeah. I just use the free version as a supplement to MSE.

No computer ought to be without it.

So is this an addition to the computers current Anti Virus programme?

It certainly is and works very well. I feel naked without this on my puter.oO

It's a must have tool if you do get infected with malware, a "safe-mode" life saver.

So is this the same or better than Avira? sorry not very clued up on these things.

I shall have a look at RKill. Have been using Malwarebytes for a long time and would highly recommend!

you may or may not be aware that RKILL cannot autoupdate.
it is updated almost daily, therefor the RKILL you have is likely to be out of date.
my advice would be to only acquire RKILL as and when you actually need it.
for the benefit of people who dont know what RKILL is or does, it is not a from of security for your computer, it is simply a tool that stops processes (usually malicious) from running, RKILL should be used with caution so please you use google to learn about it.

i use malwarebytes, the paid for pro version (its around £15 for life-time use)
the free version is just as good as a scanner but without the realtime protection.
everyone should have it.

£19 odd for the pro version

Avira is an anti-virus programme, whereas Malwarebytes is a trojan scanner - they are different, but both can mess up your computer. If you're using the free Malwarebytes, you must go to the update tab and check for updates prior to running the programme. If you don't, you'll be using an old set of definitions and stand a high chance of not finding the latest nasties. It's very easy to update, just get into the habit of updating every time. Hope this helps

"Thanks tasman23 and adams54 will give it a try"

Malwarebytes.

Used to swear by Spybot and SuperAntiSpyware, which is another major program. But both caused major problems and i have not used them since. SAS caused a BSOD, S&D caused my internet to not work.

Ive got Avira as my main AV, MSE installed just for on demand scans with on access disabled
( Shouldnt have two on access AV's installed at once)

Used it recently to get rid of xp total security

pm me for full version

Me too ... Had it for about a year and always use it as a final check to get the nasties my other virus programmes MISS..

This software was a lifesaver recently!

I used this this evening, it took 2 hours to scan my computer but sorted out 15 infections that my anti-virus software hadn't picked up, so thank-you very much.

Great little piece of software. Picks up viruses that most anti-virus engines miss. Had this program for as long as i can remember. Need to manually update before running a scan.
