I've posted the link, but I'd recommend you type the web address for HSBC in to the browser yourself, because I could just be getting your banking details ;-)

Register for internet banking, few days later your secure key arrives in the post. Log on, download McAfee and enjoy it for a year!

Microsoft security free forever....

Quite a statement.

Source?

I know you can get free antivirus, but they don't usually have full cover. This is a good deal.

Microsoft security essentials? It's sufficient for most. Couple it with scheduled Malwarebytes scans and your set.

Yep that covers it for most users.

I know what it is, would like to know how the guy knows it will be free forever.

What makes you think it won't be?

The same way we know paint and notepad will be free forever...

We use McAfee at work, I would like to say there is nothing wrong with using McAfee... only I can't... it has a nice nickname at work McCrappy.

Value-wise, this is a good deal.

However I don't like McAfee personally, I find that it slows everything down when it is installed.

does anyone know if this works on WHS2011?

No wonder why this is getting cold, 1. This has been going on for a good few years (one if the first links you see on HSBC online banking) 2. For people looking for free AV tools, there are other equally good or better alternatives.

Must say though, I have been using Mcafee for several years and am perfectly happy with it (as opposed to the years when sluggish Norton stuff was on my pcs)

I think it's a good deal. So have some heat.

I bank with Barclays and I've been using Kaspersky since they introduced the free license for their customers.

Better than stupid Santander, where the only security they offer is to ask for 3 different passwords to log in on the online banking site.
