Meh.. not the best deal. I mean how much is a bacon roll costing them. …Meh.. not the best deal. I mean how much is a bacon roll costing them. They did muffins for free a week ago

A hot drink and a bacon roll for a quid?
Sounds like a pretty decent deal to me

Tried this free items via McDonald's app twice now and both occasions didnt get my items...once the app said I wasn't at my location although standing right inside branch at the time and second time I tried to get them to manually input order on till and didn't work. Duty manager just walked away with no reason given. Said I could pay for my order and perhaps get it back upon showing my bank statement. Lol. All of that hassle for a free mcmuffin..plus wasting fuel driving ten mile round trip. App uninstalled. Complaint to customer service which was not dealt with properly. Er...no thanks. Never again. Plus after reading a review of the food, someone kept a burger in storage for a year and it hadn't started to decompose at all, pretty worrying what chemicals in this stuff to allow that. Imagine your insides and damage it's doing. 🤪

You made a ten mile round trip for a mcmuffin?

This irritates me when free costs 79p. Free to me means spend £0.00

Does 'buy one, get one free' annoy you also?

They have done better deals but heat was added as it might be good for someone on their way to work.

BOGOF definitely annoys me - it encourages waste and/or overconsumption. Permanent BOGOF deals in supermarkets are the worst, why not just charge half the price?

Because then you would only buy one so spend less

No, not on your first time.

First order, you have to collect inside
Every order after, drive thru is available
Why are McDonald's doing their best to undermine people's diets? It's not goodwill. And the NHS will pick up the tab for obesity, not to mention lower life expectancy.

That's what I've always said. Don't make us "offers" with massaged prices. Charge a decent/fair price all year.
Really don’t feel like adding my card details into their app. I have no confidence with the security...

Both should be banned terms of trading imo
Does the free hot drink offer count? So free bacon roll with free hot drink ?
Aah! I can smell the bacon already.

Their bacon rolls are minging

I'm guessing they didn't get as much money last year. Billions of dollars wasn't enough

Aw that's so cute I wish to not eat meat
I’m actually super grateful to receive freebies/discounts & have had zero issues using the app in 4 different McDs locations. Been lovely to enjoy a treat before or after a long day at work
How does the OP know about this deal? I have just installed the app for the first time and it just shows me "Spend £10 get £3 off" expiring today and nothing in the future.

You might be able to make a fortune selling a bacon roll and a coffee for a quid if your profit margins are really good to do that.

The same argument can be used against that as McDonalds charging more is typically seen as a regressive tax on the poor, and McDonalds is associated with cheap eating. I didn't actually think someone would somehow spin McDonalds discounts into a bad thing, but thanks for surprising me. Fat people will stay fat and get fatter regardless of how much McDonalds charge, this definitely isn't something you can pin on them.

OP - thanks for the heads up. This is coming from someone who enjoys running and cycling and can use the app in moderation!

We would have to define words like poor. For lower income families, McDonalds represents good value for money in terms of eating out. For the truly "poor" or those in heavy debt, a home cooked meal is the best option.

I can't agree with the comments of fat people staying fat, there are too many factors involved in that.

I stand by my original objections to this form of "giveaway" well timed in January. McDonalds are rarely this generous, except when customer demand is temporarily undermined.

Yes it can. It comes up with the option just before you check out.
