Seen in today's Metro, pg 49. Got to be done for free a great offer I reckon. Also on chipmydog.org.uk for participating vets.

I voted this cold simply due to this deal always being available, it's not exclusive to today Metro which was what you was claiming. This deal has been around for a while too.

Only available in England and Wales.

The offer might have been going for a while, but OP just picked up the paper and kindly thought of posting it and I think Dog trust are doing a good job by keeping the promotion going. Pets owners need to take advantage of modern technology by chipping their pets.

Pity there is no Cats being chipped for free..... any one know please post it here I will take my cat there.... is there a neutering freebie as well please post

As a dog owner, I completely understand this, the dogs should all be microchipped, I just thought that all people were aware of the deal, maybe I was wrong, haha!

Shame it's only for dogs and not cats as well. This offer is no good for me but even so It is still a good find for others so heat from me,

is there a consultation fee that comes with this or is it really just free

Thanks for posting OP - I've posted the info on 'Lost & Found pets in Portsmouth' Facebook page. It's good to have reminders - NOT everyone is aware of this offer, which is why they neglect to get their dogs chipped.

Unfortunately some vets are cashing in with a consult fee - the chip & implantion should be free.
Other vets are offereing "free" chipping but then you have to pay to register the chip.
Please check before going.
You should not have to pay anything for a Dogs Trust Microchip.

I am not even allowed to accept a donation for doing it.

Just rang my local participating location and they say this offer ended on the 31st May!!

Thank you I looked before and it was only at Dog's Trust centres, on checking again due to your post our vet is now participating so we are booked in.

Thanks for shairng this

True that its always been free, I got my dog chipped from my local Dogs Trust around 2 years ago. Very friendly staff but please make sure to make a donation.

just rang the number to book my dog in and they said only if a dog has medical issues or has problems with health that the chipping is free

Wanted to get our boy microchipped on this scheme, then make a donation to the dogs trust, but the only local vet offering the service here is not someone I would take an animal to see ever again.

Going to any dogs trust centre you can also have your dog chipped for free by appointment, not being a driver though, it was impossible for me to get to the local centre.

We had him done at our usual vet for ten pounds last week instead at the same time he had his booster vaccs.

The dogs trust scheme for subsidised neutering is another excellent program they run. We couldn't afford the full price of his snip, but under the dt scheme the cost was only £30. Absolutely brilliant
