Okay so this may have been posted before but not many people know about it!

If you live in SCOTLAND and your child goes to primary/secondary school they are entitled to use the free Microsoft office software pre loaded onto their glow account.

If your child does not know their glow username/password then ask their school to give it to you, they are entitled to it and it's FREE!

May come in handy if santa is planning on bringing a laptop/computer for school work and may save you buying an expensive Microsoft office package!

also works for students in Northern Ireland within the C2k system

Definitely schools do, not sure about the others think they work on different systems however not many people know about it! Also all staff can get this too as long as they have a glow username!

Microsoft made changes to its policy, meaning that all pupils can now benefit from free licences for Microsoft Office for their home computers and devices. This offer is at no additional cost to the Council.

If you work for tesco you can also get it for 9.95 (professional) along with a few other program's that retail for £500-£1000

It's actually quite refreshing to have Scottish availability highlighted, and then learn in the comments section that it's "also available in England and Wales". It's so often the other way about.

(And now I'm off to take my free, English-subsidised, meds, and nurse my paranoid celtic grievances)

Thought for a moment it was Microsoft relocating to Scotland was behind this .

All the details are on the internal site.you need a Tesco work email account or store hr if your store based. I think the other programmes are project 2016 (worth 1k) and another one worth 600.

That depends what software?

If you are looking for Office, it depends if your Uni uses Office 365, and what level they pay for. However, it's roughly, log into webmail, click on the cog (Settings) on the top right of the window, then under App Settings, choose Office 365. Then choose Install Status on the left hand menu.

For Visual C++ and developer tools, it's what used to be called Dreamspark: imagine.microsoft.com/en-…log

Thank you very much

And for English children? oh right, they get shafted for being English.

I'm from Northern Ireland, we are homeschooling though so probably not available for us. Heat though anyway.

This thread has already been trimmed for getting political.

It depends on various things as to whether your kids get it or not. Scottish kids get it as part of the Office 365 installation provided the email system for Glow, which is used to provide online teaching and resources in (I believe) all the Scottish council areas.

Not political at all. ALL British kids deserve the same. Period.

I'm not denying that all school kids should have access to Office or similar -unfortunately Microsoft Office is the usual office suite.

But this thread was a lot longer mainly because of the Scottish vs RUK debate - and one of the mods trimmed it as the whole bitterness against Scottish provision was getting political.

I've loaded on 5 pcs using my C2k account charged 30 quid each nice bit of Profit

C2k is a abomination of a Service you can access about 1 tenth of websites, but yet I can torrent using zbigz
