That's much better than the original comment. Morrisons (and M&S) are delivering over 5 tonnes of unwanted food to homeless people in London this December, I'm not sure if other cities are also a part of the initiative, but at least it's a start.

Might be worth Googling to see what other schemes they have provided for the homeless, too

I have just donated best part of a weeks shopping to the local food Bank.some people are suffering in this country through no fault of their own, disgraceful in a rich country like the UK!

and some are suffering through being bone idle and preferring the easy life to hard work, they refused the education opportunities offered to them (and probably were unlucky enough to have had rubbish parents)

£12.3 billion to developing countries ?
By the way it used to be 'overseas aid' .
What about 250,000 homeless in the UK ?

Well , might go down the hill if I can persuade my wife to join me .

hey. dumb reply.

try studying when you have a home where your dad beats up the family and behaves maniac-like most of the day.

And you know despite that, I've rarely claimed benefits. But as it happens, after getting some great Oxbridge style grades by teaching myself and a place at a top med school without enjoying the usual benefits and support, I in the end could eventually no longer afford to pay to go anymore because I don't have a parent like yours.

And you know what< I was so shellshocked from no longer being able to afford my place that I now AM on benefits for a while, because I been destroyed by lack of support you don't have to suffer.

'some' doesn't mean 'all' - why do you think I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth? - I wasn't

I created my money with hard study & hard work (plus I guess my parents were not really below average so I was lucky there as well)

To be honest I think he just means there are people at both ends of the spectrum - some have been dealt a really bad hand while others have wasted opportunities offered to them.

Saw the sign yesterday but thought it may be store specific, told my grandma about it and she'll be there on Tuesday

Thanks OP - parents notified.

Not forgetting the 600,000 empty houses.

Seniors only ?

So people under a certain age can't get this offer ?

Is that not illegal - discrimination on the grounds of age

I hope Deeky knows about this!

Enjoy your beverage & mince pie Buzz

And many of the people you dismiss as being idle and feckless are suffering from mental illness and instead of the help that should be there they find themselves on the streets. Homelessness in the UK has increased by 30% in the last 12 months alone. What a caring country this currently is!

I do realise that these people are where they are & deserve a carrot or a potato or some other help, though

Thanks OP Useful info. Have let the outlaws know

I wanted to visit Santa's Grotto but got discriminated because of my age.:(

I don't think that Morrisons are stopping non-seniors buying things from them (that would be discrimination), they are just not giving non-seniors mincies and tea! They can choose the objects of their affections, but not discriminate against protected groups (age, religion, sex etc.) by restricting those they do business with.

Last time I looked there were big holes in the arguments of those criticising 'scroungers' (search for 'guardian benefits scroungers'). Generally it's the case that people receiving benefits are those the benefits are aimed at, there aren't too many 'idle and feckless'.

Good on you. Much better doing that than giving to beggars who in my experience are neither hungry nor homeless. Know for a fact that several here are collected by a people carrier from their homes each day and dropped in town then get cabs home when they've fleeced enough people.
