Free mobile phone online storage options (useful for Moto G owners)

With so many new Moto G 8GB owners from the deals posted, I thought a headsup would be useful for online storage options. Started with Dropbox, updated to give a few options. If you're running out of space on the phone, upload pics, music, files etc and delete from your phone. You can also upload files from your PC and access on your phone, all free. Remember though, these options are for ANY Android or Apple phone!

Dropbox is FREE online storage, you get 2GB free at the start but you can get more with referrals, etc. I

Box (different from above) - box.com/per…ne/
5GB online storage, runs almost identically to Dropbox

Google Drive: 15GB of storage, however if you sign in within 30 days of getting your Moto G, you get 50GB! the app is on a lot of Android phones already, or from the App Store. Just sign in with your Google account.

Mega: 50Gb storage. You need to download the app to use.

All app are available from the Play Store and from the Apple App Store.

I'm surprised dropbox haven't upped their starting storage amount in line with others such as google drive and skydrive.

That's not to mention Mega's 50gb storage.

yeah fair point really, but i find dropbox pretty reliable. there are others of course!

prefer Box personally, but no harm in giving people a heads-up

True but this is really to help out Moto G owners who can't upgrade the memory. Maybe I should edit it to show a number of cloud storage options?

Drop box was brilliant until I noticed on their last update they require you to give the app permission to access your camera and mic with out your concent. Needless to say I closed my account.
Cold for me

Comes with Google Drive as it's Android, which is free anyway, no time limit on it

Ahh right I thought I had read it was for two years or something......

There is an extra offer on the Moto G - if you register within 30 days of activating your handset you get an additional 50GB of storage in Google Drive.

I agree that this is a good deal, therefore I have voted it hot.

However, although you can still access your files at the end of the two year period, you cannot add more. It therefore follows that you then have to buy more storage space, which at the moment costs 4.99usd per month for 100GB, which is about £3.10 at todays exchange rate.

Does that sound right?

Shouldn't it drop down to the standard 15GB after 2 years, so you can still add to that?

Mega: 50 Gigs

Copy: 20 gigs for life with a referral, otherwise 15 gigs for life.

MEGA 50GB ftw not NSA compliant

Mega would be great, but there's currently no syncing app. I recommend Copy for this. Copy is just like Dropbox, but you get 20GB storage. Uploads aren't as fast as Dropbox though tbh. Use this link to get the 20GB storage: copy.com/?r=…7DG - you'll otherwise just get 15GB. If 2GB or less is enough for you, I'd definitely recommend Dropbox though because of the upload speeds and since Dropbox has been around for so much longer. If you need lots of space, Copy offers 'Fair Storage' - you can share a 50GB file or folder with nine people, but only 5GB of each account's quota is used up.

Sugar Sync was good on my old Nokia. This thread has reminded me I had an account. Hopefully it's still active...

Good to see other options as well.

Nice one!

Thanks for posting OP! I've now got an extra 50Gb Free Space on Google Drive! Happy New Year!

Somewhere down the line your gonna have to pay for this "free" extra storage. Better to spread your files amongst several sites than stick with just one.

Should maybe mention google play music as you cans store 200,000 (i think) songs of your own in the cloud and play anywhere as long as you have data connection.
