***Free*** Motor Legal Expenses Cover for Life

If something looks too good to be true it probably is. But after delving around the internet, this seems to be a great way to save c£30 a year on your motor insurance legal expenses policy, the wretched add-on most insurance companies offer.

ThisIsMoney article below explains how it works. I think some on HUKD are already aware of this service as it is referred to on another thread.

Thanks op didn't know about this....have some well deserved heat
Is the catch that this only works for non fault accidents?

That's how the majority of the firms work, you don't get firms falling over themselves to help if you are at fault, where your paid for legal insurance differs is that if you are at fault it can help as the firm involved will get paid.
Always check the t&cs, whether its home, life, car or holiday insurance if in doubt ask!.

Isn't this basically like those calls where they say "Hi im calling about that accident in the last 5 years that wasn't your fault"

except here you're giving them all your details upfront

yes looks like it. Do a search on MSE and they come in for a lot of criticism. May not be all it says it is. Their terms leave a lot to be desired.

great detective work there japes, i'd rather pay my insurance Co £30 than go looking for this guy in his bungalow if i have an accident

... looking at the pick he's driving too fast anyway
Don't be rude about my mate ..all he wants is his cut 20% and the lawyers 60% and you the rest .
This is definitely a legitimate business 110%.........
Yep, with the additional info up here, although not a scam, it is probably best avoided. So, with deep regret, I must vote my own posting COLD.
Thanks OP.
I thought it was illegal for solicitors to pay out commission , which the website implies is the usual way your insurance work.

His way the solicitors are no win no fee. To me solicitors would only be interested in if it was the other sides fault.
Also you are supposed to declare sn accident to your insurers, so even if his lot repairs, etc, your insurance will still go up.
Having said all that I still think it is worth trying. Most deals for nothing end up going bust, so it will be interesting how long this model lasts.
The problem with all insurance is they will want to settle, so if want to go to court, the solicitor will back out or want you to pay.
Who buys that motor legal thing anyway its always been free if it's not ur fault you can go to a claims company who charge nothing and get everything done for u and offer u free recovery car even when u haven't selected it as another silly add on as long as it's not ur fault. If it's your fault don't see why u need legal protection anyway. Not like ur lawyers going get u compo for causing a accident.

IF it is your Fault, having legal representation is nothing to do with getting "compo". Its to do with protection from the relentless army of no win/no fee lowlife who will drain you dry of money and in some cases of life. I didn't post this because I want to get 'compo' if I have a crash, I posted it so I might have protection from others. Which is why, on reflection, whats on offer from MLE's is too vague to be trusted.
