Found 29th Jan 2014
Aviva are offering £10,000 of free new parent life cover for each parent (£20,000 in total). Cover lasts from the day your child is born up until their first birthday.

Not something anyone wants to think about but definitely worth having because awful things do happen sometimes :-(

id be interested to know what happened, my view on on insurance payouts has always been pretty low.

Could this be one of those offers where it is free for a brief period and then you end up paying every day/week/month for the rest of your life? How stupid do they think we are? (don't answer that..)

Bet there is a clause that if you don't cancel within a certain period it will automatically renew. If you are seriously looking for coverage I suggest doing some research and paying up front instead of falling for this sort of marketing.

Just looked and there is no tie in apparently. I think it's just done to get people to consider life insurance as there are many people who don't get it and never think about it. £10,000 is not much, these days with the cost of everything you'd want at least £250,000. Still it's free.

Automatically renew? Wonder how??? As when I applied they did not ask for any card details / bank details? Some people are just never happy! It's a free deal, take it or leave it and stop complaining!

Wow some people are hard to please!

I actually came across it when increasing my life cover. I thought it was a good deal considering its free. £10k isn't much but considering its free it's better than nothing.

Many moons ago I worked for Aviva (NU) as it was then and I saw plenty of claims get paid out. Generally if you don't disclose something they won't pay out but surely that's just common sense right?!

When a company like Aviva is offering you something for nothing......you better read every line of that fine print.
