*** Free New Starbucks Mug ****

Found 24th Feb 2012
Been to the Starbucks in Wiltshire and they are giving away free official Starbucks mugs to anyone who cares to take it! Apparently their logo is changing and they are disposing of their mugs.
Its a new mug, guys, not the one they serve in...

They had loads of it, so worth making a dash while it lasts!

Will add a real pic once I manage to go out of office and reach home in the evening...

The new mugs are boring, it's probably to stop people taking them
yay
should be in freebies
About time they gave something back, with the prices they charge, they should be giving away Ming vases (_;)

Ditched Starbucks since they stopped giving a free extra shot with the Reward Card. And no free tall drink when you buy coffee. That was all that made it better value for money.

u a mug for taking their old mug!!!
By old mugs do you mean the ones that hundreds of people have drank out of? I like a freebie but I'd rather buy a set of new mugs of my choice.
I'm guessing these are the mugs they served coffee in to customers, not the ones they usually sell.

Oh, I can assure you you still get the free extra shot. *caffeine-twitch* (But yeh, the coffee and stuff is lame!)

So it's OK to drink/eat from things other people's used when in a cafe/restaurant and paid for it but not OK if you take it home for free?
Unless you think they put your drinks into a brand new mug?

They don't use a brand new mug for me everytime oO If you want a free used mug, great, fill your boots. I would rather buy a new set for my home, others are less fussy. Hot for those that are interested.
Want a set? Walk down the street there's a bloody StarBucks every 20 stores, you can collect a set of 4 or 6 in no time.

So how exactly do you get the mugs?

The store said this was being done at most branches while the mugs last. All you need to do it either locate where the booty bag is kept and take one, or ask at the counter.

Someone better tell that to their customers who have made Starbucks the largest coffee-house chain in the world with more than 17,000 outlets!
Do these mugs work with other brands of coffee?

unfortunately no if you try to put other brands of coffee in them a slide away bottom which detects other brands of coffee appears and that coffee is drained from the cup

Do the people complaining of many people drinking from the mugs, not understand the idea of washing them?

Taken from starbucks website:
To keep your Gold level benefits simply earn 50 additional stars before your anniversary date (the date you qualified for Gold level) and you will continue to enjoy all of the Gold level benefits for another year. Otherwise you’ll be re-set to the Green level. All UK and Ireland members that are currently part of the Starbucks Card Rewards program (pre-Jan 4th 2012) will be migrated into the new My Starbucks Rewards program at Gold level with 0 stars. Offers subject to change.

I work next to a startbucks. my boss has a card that we all use everyday.
and we still dont get the freebies.
you gotta be a mug for paying the price of their coffee.?
a lot of people have these mugs anyway - my mate moved into her flat and found 4
That looks like a right mug.
Yes thumbs up.
Wiltshire is a rather large county - can you be more specific?

I haven't been there since they implemented the star system. So if I am just a regular green star customer, I will not get an extra shot or refill filtered coffee anymore? I only recently found out about the refill for filtered coffee and haven't even got a chance to take advantage of it

I was corrected by another post that if you had a Reward Card before these changes then you get Gold status for the rest of this year so extra free shot, syrups etc will all continue. However if you don't earn 50 stars this year you will be demoted next year.

The free tall coffee with a bag of beans has ended, as had the £1 filter coffee. I am not sure if the free refill is still available. Anyone know?

I am going elsewhere. Even though I still have Gold status Starbucks has overly devalued the scheme to such an extent that they have already made me feel less valued and so I prefer to take my business elsewhere. Luckily in Balham we have a great choice. I highly recommend the Camden Coffee House. Excellent quality coffee with a real tasty liqouricey espresso.

I would have ditched them for charging for soy milk, but because I've used them a lot in the last year, I had already built up the 50 required to get them free for this year, and I'm almost getting it free again next year already. The lack of free hot drink with coffee did **** me off a little, but they're still cheaper than Costa, have better staff and better drinks, and where I work they're the only two choices around.

They still do the free hot filter when you buy any hot drink, and it's still unlimited refills.
