3231763.jpgUse the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app to restrict and supervise your children's Nintendo Switch gameplay. This app and the parental controls tools it offers is absolutely FREE, so what better excuse is their to become an even more responsible parent?

The below up to the end line is taken from the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app description (Google Play listing)

Supervising your child's gaming experience has never been easier!

As a parent, do you sometimes ask yourself questions like...

  • Does my child spend too much time playing games?
  • What sorts of games does my child play?
  • Can I restrict games according to my child's age?

If so, this might be just the app for you!

Nintendo Switch Parental Controls™ is a free app that allows you to easily monitor your child's use of the Nintendo Switch console.
(Please note: A Nintendo Switch console with the latest available system version is required to use this app.)

With Nintendo Switch Parental Controls, you can:

1. Monitor your child's play time on the console.
Set a daily play time limit, which notifies your child on the console when time's up for the day. You can also check this app to see how long they've been playing. If necessary, you can also use the "Suspend Software" feature to make the console go into sleep mode when the set time is reached.

2. Find out what games your child plays.
Nintendo Switch Parental Controls provides convenient reports that show you what video games have been played on the console recently and how much time was spent playing each day.
View daily reports and monthly summaries of play activity. If you choose to receive push notifications, you'll be notified when a new monthly summary is available.
This will help you learn what games your child enjoys most.

3. Set restrictions to ensure your child can play safely, no matter their age.
Easily restrict features of the Nintendo Switch console as appropriate for your child. This includes restricting games above specific age ratings.

Attention:
● In order to use the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app, a parent or guardian (aged 18 or above) needs to have a Nintendo Account.
● You can set purchasing restrictions, including restrictions on purchasing products and services in Nintendo eShop, in the Nintendo Account settings.
● In order to make use of all of the features and settings available in the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app, all linked Nintendo Switch consoles need to be using the latest system version.

Some examples of how to use this app are...

  • On yourself! Yes, you read that right. You won't be restricting yourself, but it's a good idea to use this app to have a log of your gameplay and block your Switch from being used if it's stolen, for example

  • If your children won't come off their games when it's bedtime or when you say they've had enough time on the Nintendo Switch, you can just block them from playing right from your phone

  • To punish - if your children haven't been behaving, you can remove their privilege of being able to play games on the Nintendo Switch

Download Nintendo Switch Parental Controls on:

Android

iOS

If you don't have access to the smartphone app, you can still set parental controls restrictions on your children's Nintendo Switch console through the console settings. However, you won't get all of the features the app has to offer.

I hope this post is useful and encourages HotUKDeals users to be even more responsible parents!

This has been available since launch. And it’s always ‘free’, so not really a deal.

Freezing! Since when are basic console settings a freebie? Can do same thing on other consoles too, should they get posts as well Annoying how the Switch gets publicity for doing things other systems have for years without fuss...

I agree that it’s a ‘cold deal’, but the app isn’t the same as the settings on other consoles. Those settings are on the Switch as well.

The app provides additional functionality to parents that allows control over the settings even when they are away from their child/system (eg. I use it when I’m at work and my wife is with the kids and she needs me to change the time allowance on my lads Switch - my wife wouldn’t have a clue how to do it on the machine, but she can just message me and then I can do it remotely from the app).

I think MS have something similar for the Xbox, but it’s not as well implemented as this app. I don’t think PS4 has an app like this (I have all three systems and all three official apps).
  • Does my child spend too much time playing games? Ain't no such thing
  • What sorts of games does my child play? Hopefully awesome ones like Mario Oddysey, Luigi's Mansion and Resident Evil
  • Can I restrict games according to my child's age? Hell no it's character building and the child will probably be ostracized for not playing adult rated games
I didn’t know about this, so thank you!

You forgot the main one

Can my child buy anything they want and make me bankrupt? Yes. To set up your credit card please input all the details here, here and here.
Sorry but some people on this site have double standards. A free demo to games here can get heat in the hundreds but this goes cold? Since when were demos not free? It's the exact same principle as this post.

I disagree. Parental controls are standard features for a console now, and as others have said, this has been available since the Switch's launch.
Demos are actual games, are often time-limited, and game companies don't have to give them out.

Even if we were to take your opinion as fair... how do you justify giving heat for something that’s 2 1/2 years old?

It just isn’t a deal. If this was posted when Switch launches you’d maybe have a point. Not now though.
This ain't Pinterest, son
It's the same thing as free trips away around the UK that people get thousands of heat for that have been free for decades, free demos that gets heat when demos have been free for decades, the free parenting android app that if you all check got hundreds of heat a few months ago (by the same user) that's been free forever. That's a few examples, Yet this suddenly isn't justified as something that should get heat? Look around the site, it's so Inconsitent. For the record I don't give these things heat as I think it is something that shouldnt be on this site, my whole point is exact similar things here are lapped up as deals.
