hi

this is my first deal, so be gentle !!

My o2 contract is up next week so I was browsing the web for deals, and I came across this one.

Virgin Mobile are offering the Nokia 5800 free on an £18 per month tariff. which is for 18 months. With this tariff, you can choose either unlimited text, or unlimited data, if you are going for unlimited text you get 250 mins free, if you are going for the data package you get 150 mins free.

Anywhere else with this phone free is at least £25 per month

The deal is only available until 14th June though.

Not a bad deal also dont forget a £30 quidco

Wrong place I guess, but does anyone know of a decent £10-15 deal that gives free minutes rather than billions of free texts? I don't text much

Seems a decent deal by the way, heat added

Also , if you go for unlimited data , you get 500 texts.

Cheers, i totally forgot about quidco.

Not a bad deal, but think I'd rather pay an extra £2 and get the THREE offer with Nokia E71

It's a good deal but be sure to verbally cancel it after 17 months or you will find your 18 month contract becomes a 19 month contract. That's what Virgin Mobile do and that's why I will never have another Virgin "contract" as long as I live. Maybe they all do it but O2 at least compensated me for their incompetence.

is the E71 a better phone?

reading the reviews it shows that it is a case of horses for courses. basically if you want music, touch interface and large display for browsing then the 5800 is better (I love mine) but if you a texter, emailer or blogger then I think the E71 is likely to be better

its a good offer from 3, shame they're the most complained about network in the UK with possibly the worst customer service

Probably not, and 3's network and customer service are both terrible!

Hot from me, would prefer a Nokia N97 for that money though

you would be best to take the £18 tariff with unlimited data which also gets you a free phone.

Wish they had sorted this last week, as they couldnt make up their minds what deal I was entitled to......

If your a Virgin media customer you will get unlimited minutes to other virgin users, but make sure you get put on that tariff, the sales team didnt know about it, yet it was on a huge poster in the new virgin media store in Plymouth!!!

Thats what I would go for.

A Nokia 5800, 500 texts, 150 mins, unlimited data for £18 a month is an amazing deal.

Good deal, I took out the 12 Month contract for £25 per month last month!

I have a 3 mobile and it is absolutely awful. Network coverage seems poor. Can't make a call from work despite being in a full strength coverage area. If I can make a call can take 15-20 seconds to get the ring tone

Anywhere else with this phone free is at least £25 per month

Well that's a lie. I got this free on Orange Dolphin, unlimited texts, 400 mins for £20/month, with £60 quidco.
This is still a decent deal though

Offer ends one day before I can actually get the phone. For ****'s sake, I was looking for it as well!!!

cold for me £328.92 through 12 month contract with Orange less £50 quidco compared to £324 less £30 quidco for this deal over 18 months.

Complete piffle my man, I have used Three for over 5 years now, with all the family on the network. I guess a great deat of people simply trust others opinion without actually trying the network.
Best prices by far & yes the customer service tries the patience at times, but don't they all?

Care to elaborate?

i agree 3 has gone terrible, i have an n958gb and its it pants get cut off al the time, my mrs in son 3 as well. other people alsways get cut off. sacking them off when contrct is up.

Seems you're in the minority my friend - is your house situated directly outside a 3 mast? Otherwise I'd say their rubbishy 0 bar signal, coupled with their patronising mumbai call centre (yes I'm sure most mobile providers try the patience, yet on the other hand most are UK based and you aren't stuck talking to clowns that either you can't understand or that can't understand you).

I've just finished a 12 month contract with them (turned into 14 months after their incompetant CS lackies failed to process my cancelation request on two different occasions) you would need to pay me to use them again and I HIGHLY recommend that anyone thinking of a contract with them to try out one of their payg sims first, rather than blindly sign straight up to a 12 monther.

On what tariif & is there unlimited data with orange?

EDIT: Looked at the site, 200mins, 300txt, data free for 2 months only....so not as good (for my kinda usage)

If you've just finished an O2 Contract, get onto rententions. They'll absolutely smash this deal.

I've recently finished my O2 Contract and as an upgrade I got.. Blackberry Bold 9900, 1000texts, 500 minutes, free wifi etc.. all for £20 a month. The phone went on ebay for nearly £300.. so thats the next 15 months of my contract paid for. Means I got an 18 month contract and only have to pay for 3 months (£60).. Now thats a deal.

Does the free calls to other virgin users include those on payg as well as contract?

i am on my 5800 as we speak. I got it yesterday from orange 400 min 3000 messages for 9 quid a month when i threatened to leave because they didnt have the phone i wanted (E75)

You don't say what the length of contract you've got but £9 sounds like a good deal.
Have you got any data with this?
Orange are only quoting 500mb on some tarifs which seems a bit tight.

If you don't mind cashback, Mobiles .co.uk are doing Orange Racoon 35 for a net £8.75 giving 400mins + 300 texts + 200landline mins on a 12 month contract.

Or Orange sim only £14.68 gives 200mins + 100 texts on 30day rolling contract.
I dare say this could be bettered elsewhere as Orange ain't most charitable outfit.

Good deal.Think the 5800 be a little too complicated for me!!!
I wonder if 3 ever read any forums. I was with them for about 4 years but there CS just got worse and worse. Rude arrogant and the retentions people totally unhelpful. They were the chepest but not anymore. The phrase 'too big for their boots' springs to mind!

I have just managed to cancel my contract with Three after 6 months in a 18m contract.
Coverage was rubbish in my area, same about CS.
To exploit the loophole: their 3 like home service is ending. For more details: ]http//ww…444
100% success rate as far as I have seen ..good luck!

Do VM have same offer on HTC Touch HD? Can't see it online...

Stupid question probably but does unlimited data mean free web browsing? Would there be any extra web browsing charges? And is it worth it on a phone that only has WAP (I'm looking at a diff phone on this tariff)

I've just got this phone on TMobile with 800 mins and unlimited texts for £25 on a 18 month contract. More than I'll likely ever need but it seemed too good to miss at that price

extremely tempted!!! can decide between this and a renoir

The HTC Touch HD have some great specs for a phone espcially an amazing resoluiton of 480x800px I thought the nokia 5800 was good with its.

Having a quick scan couldn't find any HTC Touch HD Deals comparable with the one with the nokia 5800 with virgin.

Just phoned they offered this deal or a Nokia 5800 for £12 month over 18 months with 150 mins 150 texts also 150 mins to other Virgin phones.
Seems a good price for the phone

The Nokia wins that one. Windows Mobile is god-awful.

The difference in the efficiency of the OS means that the Nokia only needs 81MB of memory for running programs. The Nokia also has an 8GB microSDHC card for storage of programs, music, videos etc.

The lesson that people still haven't learned with digital cameras is that megapixel count is not the be all and end all. The Nokia has a Carl Zeiss lens and apparently better internal processing to .jpg. Dunno what flash the HTC has - I think none, Nokia has dual LED.

5800 offers iPlayer downloads which is a killer app for me. It's also much cheaper and fits in a jeans pocket better.

Good for you - I'm bang on at the end of my contract and was inspired as it were to call up Orange and request my PAC code say why I was leaving (can get better deal elsewhere) mentioned the E75 etc. and all they would offer me was Nokia 5800 on their £19.57 tariff for 18 months, making out like he would be saving me £180 a year, absolute rubbish when any new customer can get a low decent tariff with a third party company - he wouldn't do any better - ruddy annoying! Any secret tricks you'd care to share?
