Well it is German. And it's encrypted. Using both facts, my theory is also that this is could actually be NSA proof!

Also liking protonmail.ch/ - supported their Indiegogo campaign. Mailbox is decrypted in the browser, not server side. As with anything it's a matter of trust but I like their style...

To be honest, if NSA snooping helps reduce terrorist attacks at home and abroad then I'm happy for my email to be monitored.

If you have nothing to hide, why be concerned?

Everyone has something to hide, whether it's their sexuality, their infidelity or simply the fact that they like to close the toilet door when they go to the loo. I am not prepared to give that up for a false sense of security. The NSA has been running their surveillance at paranoid levels for more than a decade and it didn't stop Richard Reid, or the Boston Bomber, or 7/7, or the Madrid bombings, or the Underpants bomber, or Bali, or the Turkey bombings or any number of attacks elsewhere in the world. Mass monitoring of our communications has not made us safer. What WILL make us safe is education, engagement and good old fashioned police work. But those take time, and don't come with cool sounding names and flashy graphs.

Ben Franklin summed things up best - “They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Ask that of your government. They are always hiding behind the fictional wall of "national security". What do open, democratic countries have to hide except their own skullduggery? Are you happy for your government to break international law and ignore human rights? I'm not.

Edward Snowden, and the like, has shown quite clearly that we are not spied upon in the interests of national security, we are surveilled because they have the technology to do so and absolutely no shame when it comes to breaching our human rights.

Also, let's get our house keys copied and sent to the local police station, scotland yard, and interpol - you know just in case.

More like created by an NSA funded private umbrella, that will just share your data with the NSA who won't need to snoop.

I can't believe how naïve some people are.

If they want to know, they will.

Yep looked at that too, this one works the same way with some added German privacy legislation. At time of posting protonmail closed it's beta after being over subscribed, I expect this one will too, so get in quick.

Launched by the NSA.

You pointed that out. The Germans are fairly reluctant on helping the US, but I didn't know that they're even supporting the NSA.

Some google searches for Germany aiding the NSA will help, the'll also turn up some of the Snowden leaks with proof and details of the infrastructure.

I did a Google (URL Link: https://www.google.co.uk/#q=germany+aiding+nsa) and it does show about the Snowdon leaks, and the first one at the moment is a spiegel.de (Must be some sort of German Newspaper) stating "Edward Snowdon accuses Germany of aiding NSA in spying efforts", but it's true. His accusation is true.

NSA proof but not mention of GCHQ proof.
