Found 7th Apr 2013
Been with O2 for a couple of years and was thinking of fibre with Plusnet but thought i would give O2 another go.. Called up and was offered upgrade to "The Works" package free for 12 months (no haggling required). Worth a go if your an existing O2 customer.. (I get 16mb down 1mb up) Could be to retain customers as O2 have sold out to Sky.

IT IS FREE UPGRADE (Existing Customers Only)

How can free broadband for 12 months be cold?
Edited by: "paddymcn" 7th Apr 2013

Its just an upgrade

Surely this is customer-retentions dependant, ergo, probably not available to everyone?

Some are also getting a credit applied to their Mobile Phone bill to tempt them into staying on, in the light of Sky snapping o2 Broadband/phone up!

I phoned up and asked them as my current deal was coming to an end and they just asked if I wanted 12 months free. Can't complain at that

I was on the works package, was gonna change to EE with phone line but 02 offered me free 12 month broadband works package a d unlimited anytime line rental for a total o £16.50pm

When I phoned a few days ago I was given the option for free broadband for 12 months or half price broadband for 12 months with £200 credit onto my mobile phone account.

i chose the half price with £200 free phone credit.
You must have a pay monthly contract phone for the phone credit deal (obviously)

What number is everyone calling?

Is this unlimited; its good either way, have some heat!!

I called to update my direct debit payment so would have been put through to accounts. I mentioned I was on the legacy package for the past 5 years and what was to stop me from leaving. I was then offered any of their current packages on a 12 months contract for free. They just said just renegotiate after the 12 months.

Of course I went for 'The Works' and my speeds went from 8Mb down/1Mb up to a whopping 9Mb down/1.1Mb up. Called up tech support who confirmed I was only 576m from the exchange but they couldn't work out why my speeds were so 'slow' for my proximity.

Check with a neighbour, I had the same 1mb down with neighbour getting 16mb down... turn out to be dodgy cable to my house... replaced and 16mb.. :-) Glad to see some of you are callin to test the waters.. cant complain at 12 months free.

Called up to renew my contract from the 12 Half price it was on to another 12 months and what do I get? "would you like it for free?" !?!? Free you say?? HELL YEAH! :)))

would rather use the local library than sign up with o2 for broadband .

Was offered the same about a month ago when I signed up for Plusnet, but the increase in speed from 6 to 50 did offset that a bit. Kids are complaining a lot less when playing Xbox now!

Do you have to be existing 02 broadband customer or 02 mobile?

Would be kinda ironik if your Library used it

I also can't understand why O2 get alot of hate from some people. I've found their customer service to be brilliant and not complained once. Anything asked, done without question. Their mobile network coverage and prices are brilliant too - epecially PAYGO. What more can you ask for?

I got this deal from another post about sky taking over o2 they are doing it so they have some customers to sell to sky I don't want to be with sky and will leave when they take over.
Also note you have no cancellation fee on this when the take over happens

Thanks just got the works free for 12 months no brainer

The speeds alone put me off, but I'm a heavy user - totally confused about the cold votes, as everyone requires something different. If you don't need super fast internet, surely this is your best bet?

Hi, I got it last month - 12 months free Broadband + £100 free credit on my mobile phone bill. i have check it and the credit is on my new bill this month as so is the broadband discount been taken off. (for the £100 credit, i told them my mate got £100 credit also and with out saying anything else they said we will offer you the same)

HEAT FROM ME........

thanks for the info, i' not on O2 so i proberly won't get this deal

I wonder if you can claim the free 12 months then wriggle out of everything before the jump to Sky citing some excuse about not being informed during sign up?

Has anyone tried this with BE? I'm with them and I'd be interested to know if they are doing the same deal to keep customers since they were previously owned by O2

got 12 months free + £200 credit within 30 days

Yeah, free broadband is always good, remember when Talk Talk did free broadband a few years back, that failed miserably lol.

Hadouken!

Hi, that will not work as i have asked and they said the offers are part of the contract of moving to sky when the change over happens.
they said if you dont finish your 12months free contract when you move to sky then they have the right to charge you for the 12 months of broadband and any other offer you got plus a cancellation fee.

that's not what I was just told. got 12m free broadband + £200 on mobile. they confirmed (a few times) that cancellation fee would be £8.43 times the number of months remaining on the contract.

True that, I posted that on MSE last week

I seem to have got an even better deal. :-)

Just did this myself, called to cancel and offered me free broadband for 12 months, just pay the line rental, saved £8 a month

What did everyone say when they called up to try and get this deal?

Hi, just used the live chat and i told them i was offered 12 month free broadband and £100 credit and i heard you had an offer on for 12months free broadband and £200 credit. the person on the other side did some checks and confirmed and update the offer to match and said the extra credit will be added to your account in 28day and keep the chat log a proof.

looks like they will match any deal they are offering even when you have accapted a lower deal before.
£100 EXTRA IN THE POCKETS - THANKS EVERYONE ON HERE

Just got my Mac Code off Be, all they are offering is half price for a year with no additional incentives. I've just signed up with O2 for £6.25 per month plus £200 mobile phone credit

Going to ring tomorrow, thanks for the heads up!

sky will be buying o2 broadband next month, but actual take over will take up to 18 months, well that's what ive been told

I've renewed my contract in January. Would I be able to get this 12 months free deal if I threaten to leave o2?

You can get £50 M&S vouchers or £200 mobile credit or 12 Months Xbox Live in addition to the free 12 Months. But you will have to specifically ask for one of the 3.

Went with the M&S voucher and got it a few weeks later.

OP you should add these to the description so people don't miss out.

Sky are taking over O2 starting this month but could take 18 months for the migration. Sign a contract with them for 12 months and you will be under Sky's spell soon after. A lot of O2's customers left Sky and now find we are being handed over to them with higher costs and slower broadband.

A change to terms and conditions will mean that you can leave - there's a window of a couple of weeks IIRC.
