Free (yes free) mobile WiFi from O2 whether you’re an O2 customer or not. Thousands of hotspots located in shops, cafes, bars and streets across the UK. The service can be up to 10x faster than 3G and doesn’t impact any data allowance on your mobile providers tariff. For more information and to register, please visit o2wifi.co.uk/my The service is intended to augment O2’s 3G service, reduce contention & improving user experience + acts as a loss-leader introduction to non-O2 users. There are a set of opt-out privacy options if you don’t want to receive marketing from O2.

Saw that yesterday. Cant get better than Free. Unless a cashback site site gets involved and offers cashback for doing the same

Heat.
Sounds good, but quote:-

"To use our Wifi for free, you accept that from time to time we'll send you offers or information (either from us or carefully chosen third parties). We may send them by email or text. If you don't want them, you can unsubscribe from the service at any time."

Still going to give it a go though, so hot from me.

Thanks OP.

I think it said that there was an opt out that you could use. Dont know how effective that would be though
Thanks!
just registered, thanks OP!
Cheers will have a gander
Many thanks. Will be useful.
Didnt realise that there was another listing
Says in other thread that limit is 10 GB per month.
Guess will need to find out what happens if you exceed that
Will give it a try. Should have lots of spots in London. Thanks.
It gives you "access" to WiFi networks that are already open and free! McDonalds for example and the O2 stores. So this is just a licencing exercise. No one is actually getting access to any extra networks with this.

- so there's no such thing as a free launch?

Thanks
Think I will stick to my mobile internet or other hotspots. This seems like nothing more than getting ya email address to spam.
I dont seem to get the code through text?
What's annoying is even if you are an existing O2 customer, they still make you sign up before you can use it. You can't use your existing O2 username and password for this.
goodluck finding a hotspot and getting it to work!
More chances of it working if you stay in london perhaps. Not had it working once in Glasgow ever since I got it as part of my o2 contract. My friend at o2 says it a shamble as well and its never worked for him or other staff he knows either.
as above, pretty poor coverage really

They are stating that they monitor all traffic and data, and perform analysis to create targeted adverts. Perhaps a bit too big brother for some.

Is this CLOUD which Sky also advertise as "free" for Sky broadband subscribers? These hotspots are free anyway, I've used them.
Got to be worth a go - cheers - hot from me!!

Texts can be annoying, but at least we can just use an email address for spam.
That's brilliant just what I need thank you.:3
Does anyone know how to opt out of the marketing bit?
I've used it in and around Sheffield a few times - worked fine for me, no spam as yet (well no more than normal anyway)
Thanks
I was in House of Fraser in Oxford Street this morning, having a coffee, and logged onto the store's free wifi and it turned out to be this same deal. The signal was good and there were no nag screens or interruptions for adverts; thus far, this seems a very good deal, so heat from me.
