Was thinking the same, I have heard you can get a uni email address from the OU, but unsure if it's from free courses as opposed to paid.
'I am an OU student – can I apply for a card?
Open University students are able to purchase a card provided that their course is active. You will need your PI number to be able to apply. If you’re a research student, you’ll need to drop the OU Students Association a line at ousa@open.ac.uk.

What would you expect they're free? All HE courses cost thousands (In England anyway). Actually a good way to try course content if you are serious about HE study before committing. FutureLearn is also worth a look.
Is there mandatory qualification for enrolment?
Pretty cool, thanks!

Don't need to be a student to obtain an NUSx card; don't even need to be human: my cat has an NUSx card as mentioned here hotukdeals.com/com…549 . The applicant just needs to quote an acceptable combination of course provider and student number, have a cute photo and pay some money to a con-mercial company. The study provider can be selected from a dropdown list; the student number can be any acceptable mix of characters numbers - it is not checked with the provider (imagine the data protection implications if it was!). The OU is probably the most commonly abused (non)provider for NUSx card applications - most abusers simply google the format of OU student number (PI) and make it all up - except the payment card details.
Great I think my 'skid mark' certification that I got through this last year probably needs updating.

For a free course? Common sense.

This will not get you an NUS card, nor will it be recognisable qualification.
It will will be new and useful knowledge though, which is the more important thing.

Clearly by the heat that his has got - a lot of individuals using this site don't go trawling through hundreds of historic posts - and / or take it for what it is at the time they see it.

Have some much deserved (even more) heat!

Thanks OP for posting. Had a look at the link and when you choose a subject the next link is not mobile friendly and you cannot expand the page to read it. Really they could do with taking a course in web design!
