Ready steady sow!

Grow Wild has teamed up with BBC Countryfile to give away thousands of free packets of UK native wild flower seeds.

Supported by the Big Lottery Fund and led by Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew; Grow Wild inspires communities, friends, neighbours and individuals across the UK to come together to transform local spaces, by sowing, growing and enjoying native wild flowers.

The UK has lost around 97% of its natural wild flower habitats since the late 1930s, meaning less colour in our lives, less shelter for wildlife and less food for birds, butterflies and bees.

But it’s something we can change: so all the more reason to get sowing, growing and enjoying UK native flowers.

Thank you, I have asked for the seeds, hope I get them, my dad loves spending his time in the garden in order to @get away from mums nagging' !

Brilliant idea and thanks for sharing

no show seeds after two months!

Just ordered. Here's something that will brighten (that's an understatement!) up your garden - a few years back I bought some packs of wild flower seeds. One flower came up that was incredible, the brightest orange and shade of orange I had ever seen. Got a expert round and he said it was Eschscholzia californica, a California Poppy (state flower of California) - they grow everywhere there and are protected, it's against the law to pick them but there are fields even state reserves of them for miles. The seed pods are like pea pods but smaller and explode to shower seeds everywhere. Next year I had loads. I love them. Go online and just put in Californian Poppy (they come in all colours now) and get some seeds (available here everywhere) and have your neighbours wondering what the hell they are! Oh yes, they will grow anywhere! Even in unwatered soil and gravel. Soooo easy to grow, so great to look at!
Good youtube vid of some in California. The future is orange!

Went in Wilko's today. They had large sprinkle-type tubes of wildflower seeds for £2 or bags for (IIRC) £3.

Thank you! Have ordered.
