I'm pretty sure it's the same for both but check first! Bus times (taken from site) are:
Catch a shuttle bus - they run every 10 minutes to each terminal, and the transfer takes as little as 3 minutes. (Average journey times Terminal 2: 10.7 minutes; Terminal 3: 18 minutes; Terminal 4: 5.04 minutes; Terminal 5: 7.56 minutes).

thanks op. good to know.
it also worth mentoning that on exit your stay needs to be verified by member of car park team or via intercom.

Stansted is free for 1 hour in the Mid Stay Car Park. The bus is also free. Simply take a ticket on arrival and put it into the machine on exit, if you've stayed less than one hour then it lets you out for free.

Thanks ... I've just checked the site and you're absolutely correct! I will amend my post and put a link in the first comments ... Thanks

Long stay isn't ideal for picking up or seeing off, especially when you have an excess amount of luggage. It is good to have a free of charge drop off area but why don't they provide free parking/stopping for pick up? Every time when I fly to or pick up someone from LHR, I have to decide if to use the drop off lane (I know it's not allowed) or short stay car parks. IMHO, loading luggage could as fast as, if not faster than, unloading, and without needing to kiss a goodbye, in general, it could be faster than dropping off passengers. Same stopping for 3 minutes or less, why dropping off is fine but picking up is leading to a possible fine? If the argument is to give outbounds flyers convenience and save their time, why can't they give 10-15 mins free short stay parking? All for all is to earn more money.

Because when picking up you don't know with certainty when the plane is going to land, how long it will take to arrive at the gate, how long it will take for the person you are picking up to collect any luggage and then how long it will take to go through security/customs.

When dropping off you are not confined by any time sensitive things. You drop off. You say goodbye, have a nice time and leave.

Not really as my case. I mean if the traveller has already waiting in lane, they shouldn't penalise the driver. Btw, the actual landing time can be easily found online and very accurate, especially for LHR. For me, it would be ideal if the driver wait in long stay and get in touch with the traveller. When s/he collected the luggage, the driver can proceed to the drop off lane and take 2 mins to pick up the traveller and luggage. It is the most convenient and cost effective way. Second best is to proceed to short stay but if leave within, say 10 minutes, it should be free.

Just to mention that at Stansted it is free for up to 1 hour, £1 up to 2 hours in the Mid Stay Car Park.
Also at Luton it is free parking for 2 hours in the long stay car park. 10 min by shuttle bus (free) to the terminal.

Thanks OP! Does anyone know what the charge is if you accidentally go slightly over the 2 hours at Heathrow?

Picked up relatives the other day stayed 1 hour fee came to £6.70 at Heathrow its crazy! Wish I'd known about this before

Having had a nice relaxing coffee in the McDs on Bath Road whilst waiting for the call to come....."we've collected our bags now and will be out in 5 mins"!

Hello, where is link to Heathrow? oO

Subject line of this post says:
"Free parking for 2 hours at Heathrow"
http://www.heathrow.com/transport-and-directions/heathrow-parking/heathrow-long-stay-parking

Cannot see anywhere on the Heathrow webpage link that 2 hours is free.
Even running the quote comes up with a cost of parking.
So how is this 2 hours free?

It's at the bottom of the centre panel on the page. It says ..

Pick-up and drop-off
If you are dropping off or picking up passengers, you can use the Long Stay car park for 2 hours free of charge. Re-entry to Heathrow Long Stay parking is prohibited within 24 hours. This facility is not available to private hire and trade vehicles. All exits will need to be verified by a member of the car parking team either on site or via Exit intercom.

You can add Luton airport as well. Two hours free on the Long stay and 15 minutes on the Mid stay with free transfer.
