I’m not sure the NHS is bloodsucking. Poorly managed, certainly. Underfunded - without a doubt. But an amazing service run on goodwill of excellent medical and administrative staff who go the extra mile because they care - they certainly don’t get rewarded for it

The car park is run by a private company not the NHS
Siak1 most bloodsucking NHS Trusts make no money on their car parks and as i'm sure you're aware most Trusts are in deficit. The money they generate from car parking offsets the cost of having those car parks so the choice is do they subsidise car parking or pay for clinical staff? Next time you or a family member tip up at A&E or call out an Ambulance I hope you appreciate all the bloodsucking NHS does for you and millions of others each and every day!

its mainly poorly managed...may be an urban legend, but have heard that when a "Freedom of Information" request was made to find out how much money was spent annually on the administrative staff ( read Managers) away days.... they hid behind the clause that if it takes more that a certain number of man-hours to get that information the request may be denied !!!

Also known as “No Hope”
The fact that anybody has to pay for parking at NHS hospitals is appalling. Even more appalling is that at some even the staff have to pay. Thankfully, the nearest to us, Trafford General, is free parking, as are all hospitals in Wales. It’s about time the playing field was levelled and free parking reinstated for the UK as a whole.:{
NHS is one of the best systems in the world. If you are unhappy with it, you have first world problems.
Bloodsucking? I'd like to see you say that when you go to A+E complaining of a tummy bug! Ungrateful people in this world. Jheeze!

Or maybe a few overworked doctors?I'm sure if the car parks had been free your dad's tumour would have been spotted in no time at all.I suggest you take yourself and your dad down to see all those recovering from the free life saving surgery they have received and do it before December 27th so you can see it for free.

I have spent £257 on hospital parking alone in the last 3 months which includes 3x 4 weekly passes, a weekly pass and other daily charges . So tell me if it would really make a difference to me as my own pass runs out on the 27th. The post wasn't for myself , it was for people who would Park on side streets and then walk to the hospital
Op should stick to garbage dvd posts, would probably gain something from engaging in even a limited knowledge of economics or politics before assuming the NHS is to blame for parking charges!!!!! really!!! uniformed people like this is why they charge to park in the first place

Is that an informed opinion backed up with both qualitative and quantitative evidence or you just felt like typing?
The real problem is what they get charged for everything from pills etc. I bought a blood pressure machine for the wife for £26 much better than the nhs one she had to wear for tests. That one cost £1.600 I bet they got an mp on the board
By the way no better in Wales my mate tonight waited 3 hours for an ambulance as he dad fell though the attic roof braking ribs etc. Last year my son waited 1:45 with his father in law who then died when it arrived without blue lights. It's the traffic light system that is used again it didn't work before
Why attack the NHS when the problems with it are entirely caused by persistent Conservative underfunding (conveniently blamed, to try to avoid responsibility, on NHS Trusts).

Far more patients than in 2010 when the Conservatives took over, those patients are, on average, much older and much more expensive to deal with, and the funding simply hasn't kept up.

Every time they get in they do this in an attempt to make it so bad people want it privatised to profit their rich chums.
I think the OP failed to realise the NHS needs Blood donations all year, not just for Christmas.

Does the NHS make mistakes? yes it does.
Would private health be any better? Not necessarily.

At the end of the day, our NHS service is available to all. There are no limitations based on you ‘contribution’ level or excess to pay every time you so much look at a medical facility.

You too have double standards

No no I think anybody who slags off the NHS blames other people, insults other people, and generally shows a complete lack of ability to form rational thoughts, comprehend reality or demonstrate any evidence of multiple brain cells is in fact a waste of air. And that I’m afraid sums you up nicely!

I have attended both hospitals as have friends and family and if they say they are going to Good Hope it’s followed by a grimace because local people, such as myself have experienced the care there and it’s not as good as other hospitals in the area. You know what, it’s actually Ok to say that. That some Nhs facilities aren’t as good as others? That some fail the patients more than others.

YOU seem to have jumped on the let’s be rude train being catty for no good reason because you got yourself excited and carried away. I’m entitled to an opinion based on ya know USING THE HOSPITAL and living locally where others I know do. Stats can say whatever but when my personal experience tells me something I listen to that.

Heartlands and Good Hope hospitals are parts of the same NHS Trust. I'm sure there will be good and bad experiences at both. I've only had one experience of Good Hope and have to say they were very good. They are in very serious financial difficulties though.

Very true, I’ve had some bad experiences with GP’s too, but some have been amazing.

Either way, doctors, nurses, carers, porters and everyone in between do a job I could never do, it must be rewarding, heartbreaking and frustrating. The Nhs has problems but they do their best with what they have and how they are funded and structured.
