Free parking for NHS Staff

We’re offering NHS staff free parking at over 150 car parks across the UK, in support of their efforts at this current time. We’re pleased to make this offer available for NHS staff who pre-book online and is valid for bookings and exits until end of April, when we’ll review the situation.

Bookings can be made anytime up to an hour before arriving into the car park. We recognise that NHS staff may be required for extended periods as well as longer shifts so this offer has no restrictions on the number of days which can be pre-booked in one booking. Each pre-booked parking stay only allows one entry and exit, but you can pre-book as many stays as you need. We recommend NHS staff pre-book their parking for longer than their planned shifts for total peace of mind.

Why this isn't done under normal circumstances is beyond me. It's only crazy that it takes something like covid 19 to happen for NHS staff to get free parking. This country is a joke
Given that some hospitals charge staff to park this is long overdue!

The successive governments are jokes. This is the same for Police. No parking at most stations for officers. It's cheaper to build a building with limited parking.
The response you get is "you're provided with a job, not a parking space".
Very frequently, the personal cars owned by police are keyed or tyres slashed as they are forced to park on public side streets around stations which are usually located in and around high crime areas where people know they are cars owned by police.
Or you can drive to a nice area then walk for another 20 mins after your hr drive (as most police dont like to work where they live for obvious reasons) if you're fortunate enough to have a nice area close enough.
At times female officers/staff have to be escorted to their cars in these areas at night for saftey. Nurses have been murdered and assaulted going to their cars not parked on hospital grounds.

Public services are treat like dirt by the goverment, it's a shame it takes a crisis like this to win the public over. I just hope when the dust settles the appreciation is still around.

Just remember a nurses pay has in real terms dropped 15%+ over the last 10ys under this government along with most other public service staff, that's what's happened looking from the outside. You can Imagine what they have done on the inside that people dont see. It's a disgrace, hopefully these short coming dont become aparent under the latest crisis.

If you are implying that the "NHS" staff are busy taking advantage of all these offers you are sadly mistaken... Whilst you are here posting sarcastic comments on the internet, I had to sit with my wife who is nurse crying on mothers day in front of our 7 year old boy because of the chaos that she has had to face and yet to face... whilst you self isolate or possibly "not" going by your demeanour, she has to go to work and save lives, I have to worry about her safety and my son has to worry about his mum...

I hope you sleep well.

Well done NCP. The NHS hospital where I work as a cancer nurse is still charging me. Shouldn’t be surprised as terrible employers compared to when I worked in the private sector.

That is truly disgraceful.
Credit where its due
This will be good for doctors and nurses who get redeployed to other hospitals to help patients. Hopefully they can help cure some peoples stupidity at the same time.

As an NHS person that is only thinking about working and buying food/petrol in the future, this is the only use I can think of for this.
Is that including àirport parking :/ 😁

This is pure ignorance on the part of someone who has never gone through the daily struggles and trials NHS workers have to go through. While you self isolate and hoard everything off the supermarket shelves, these workers come home to possibly empty cupboards and the dread of facing the virus upfront the next day.
Mods, could we finally have one megathread of freebies for NHS as this is not relevant for the majority of population (including other key workers)??

Since when does a thread have to be relevant to the majority? As long as the title is clear, its pretty easy to decide if it's a thread you are interested in, and act accordingly.
This will be immensely helpful in the coming days. A lot of my colleagues would be catching trains or buses into work for the NHS, and most of these are talking about going to a Sunday service, which for a lot of them would mean door-to-door commute of nearly 2hrs (if they miss one train because of finishing 5mins late). Driving and parking at an NCP would be less than 30mins for the same trip.
As someone mentioned, most hospitals still charge their own staff for parking (even issuing parking tickets to nursing staff working on ITUs)

Because normally there's other people parking in the car parks?
While there isn't really going to be now, or shouldn't for the most - part, so it's at no cost to them.
Well done NHS staff.
But no thanks to this government.
Edited by: "byron" 23rd Mar
We did have free parking for staff and patients at Surbiton and Tolworth hospitals (now shutdown by the government to save money) but people using the nearby train stations used to hog the spaces. I cannot believe people had such poor morals as to do that day in day out.

That might be one reason why they started charging, but its no reason to target the staff too.

Of course, its academic ever since that the government chose to close all these "recuperation" hospitals that would have been ideal isolation wards in this crisis. Not having them is going to cost the government a LOT more than they saved in shutting them! The government screwed up big time.

Such a cushy number they have? My wife and daughter are a midwife and paediatric nurse, and while having a master's and honours degree between them, I get paid roughly what they do combined. The years of study and experience they have built up goes directly in to helping people live, and they don't discriminate for scumb@gs like you unfortunately. I expect your contribution to society is probably a few kids by different mum's and the spread of STIs while we all work hard to pay for your obviously wasted education and benefits. May I suggest you get yourself back to primary school and learn how to be a useful part of society rather than probably work cash in hand with a sore back to pay for your fags and jaunts to the pub to complain how hard you have it? Pulling an all-nighter in the pub isn't quite the same as the 13 hour shifts my family do keeping people alive, but you have your rant son.

In the meantime, I'd suggest you keep well away from any NHS services for any reason, and maybe a parasite on society can be finally shed while my family work on the front line to keep people safe and healthy whilst putting their own safety at risk as we cannot afford the proper equipment we need them to have because we have to pay for people like you.
They should be getting this anyway... Anyone else agree?
Shane NCP..charge workers for parking

It's good chance to use scooters maybe?
I jut had a look at Manchester Royal and i couldnt see it but loads of others in Manchester, im sure the mri is NCP

What so NHS staff should pay? Same with Police they should pay as well.

It isn't the point who is using it, it's the fact these people deliver us a service when we need it most. They shouldn't have to pay parking its unnecessary
Heat
The way i see it and most normal People is NO member of staff should have to pay to park in any works car park, and what really winds me up is why are the Hospital car parks not owned by the government and charged at a fair rate, the money be used on the car park upkeep and any left over be put into the Hospital
