"To celebrate Cyber Monday this year, we've decided to allow all new and existing customers who have not previously ordered a physical card to get their first standard card for free. To help clear up any confusion, we wanted to take some time to explain how this promotion works.

The Giveaway starts at 00:01 GMT on the 26th of Nov 2018 and will finish at 23:59 GMT on the 2nd of Dec 2018 while stocks last."

Starling much better here. You can withdraw £300 a day from a cash machine any where in the world and the card is free when it is posted. It also has fscs protected. Starling is a normal bank account that you can pay your wages into. Revlut doesn’t know what it wants to be. It’s a quasi prepaid card/bank account/money changer/crypto currency/share dealing servce etc... Even curve is better then this and they pay you to join.

Your Money with Revolut is not protected, I opened my first account with them in 2015, then a second account a few months later, back then I didn't realise it wasn't allowed for duplicated accounts until They locked both of my accounts in November 2017 just before Christmas, with around £1100 top-up inside, I have been thru all the ID verification things they asked for but no explanations given apart from ''currently under investigation'' after that, it has been a year now. I use the same real address/name/DOB/bank detail when i registered both of the accounts and registrations went thru fine, I studied their t&c by that time, it said duplicated accounts were not allowed but didn't tell you clearly what penalty would be, t&c said they will arrange fund withdraw if they wanted to close your account, however they decided to suspend my accounts forever instead without telling me why. I can see my fault here but just want to let you know that revolut is not respecting the fact that what you topped up into is still your money, feel more like game credit or something. not sure how they get pass the FCA.
Revolut is not protected by the FSCS.
Revolut was great year ago... Then I opened Starling Bank account which is basically 100% better.

- no ridiculous £300 monthly withdrawal limit but daily!
- exchange rate same as Revolut.
- my cash is protected by government.
What is revolut? What do I need one?

Thanks, have updated
It's finally time to take the plunge to a 0 fee future!
Not really free the catch is you have too add £10 top up to active the card
That's been free before so hardly a new deal, all you had to do was to to top it up £10 and get free card, exactly like in this deal.

You could spend that money after getting your card or transfer it back to your account

And all that blurb is from email they've sent today to their customers, I got it too.

You can transfer any positive balance on your card back to your bank account at any time.

Don't have to spend it though, can transfer it back after account is live. Don't know why you'd bother though, revolut have been a much better 'bank' than any of the other, traditional ones I have used so far!
Cool just orders mine always handy when your away in holiday
Glad I don't own this thread. Look forward to a week of complete nonsense. If I were you I would just unsubscribe from it now. Save yourself the hassle.
I have a Halifax Clarity Card any advantages in getting this? Cheers
I use the virtual card but at present only have a few quid in balance, and its charging me £4.99, take it I need at least £10 balance?

Fee free transactions abroad (in shops and online)
Better exchange rates, free money withdrawal from cash machines etc.
I have this card. Its OK but I prefer the Monzo card. Found revolot slow at transferring money back into my main bank account.
Tried ordering this revolut thingy so many times but it asks me for my phone number and never sends me a message. So gave up.
Revolut is not protected by the FSCS.
This and starling bank make everything so much easier.

Ye for me, Revolut is a top up when you need sort of card. Would never hold a lot of money on here.
Question ?

What is the purpose of this card and any benefits do you pay to use it for example?
Whats the catch?

Am thinking of getting one for my 13 year old to use as a pocket money type thing.
I can concur that this is a super card and since having it for three years I have never had to use any bureau de change since.HOT

There is no catch, get one for yourself, just add a bit of cash to it and then set a monthly limit using the app so they cant go over the limit, once all the money is used up they cant go overdrawn, if they lose it you can immediately disable its use via the app

No advantages. Halifax Clarity is one of the best on the market

These are great cards to use abroad. We picked one up each before our visit across the pond and they worked flawlessly. You can do so much with these cards, everyone should have one if you holiday abroad or you use foreign Amazon sites.

Used to use one of these. Can't recommend them anymore. It's not protected and it's slower and more frustrating to use than something sensible like Starling or Monzo. They keep coming up with gimmicks to seem relevant like "send money with gifs".

Is there any point having this if you already have a Starling?

Not true, Clarity is a very good credit card for abroad, but this is not a credit card and afaik there is interest on the credit card when you withdraw cash, unlike this card
A great card. I use one for work lunches and nights out so I don't have to worry if I lose it. I can cancel the card via the app and if I find it I can unlock it again if it shows up the next morning.

Great for giving yourself a budget.
Can you top this card app from the app? Since Monzo took that away I have barely used it!
I installed the app and it's asking to send photo ID or passport. Is this normal?

oh ok, I was worried they were a fraudster trying to steal my id and card details
After reading all the comments and reviews online I think I will give it a miss - don't really need it anyway.
