Ordnance Survey maps tend to cost at least £5 each.

Get yourself a free map of any area you choose via Streetmap (or Bing at bing.com/maps/ if you prefer).

Just choose your area and your scale - then press print. As many as you like for free.

Clickable Bing option: bing.com/maps/

Change 'Road' map to 'Ordnance Survey Map'.

Good find. I have a 10 year old version of 'memory map' - and you had/have to buy individual maps.
Now, thanks to this, it's all free!

Good find, Newbold

You can also print free 1:50000 scale OS maps with Getamap (http://www.getamap.ordnancesurveyleisure.co.uk). However, if you want to print their 1:25000 scale maps you need an annual membership (currently £18.00). The added advantage of Getamap is that you can select a wider area to print than with Bing, without losing the scale.
If you do a lot of walking/outdoor activities then it's worth considering the £18.00 fee as there's no limit to the number of maps or number of copies you can print.

Great find, thanks! You're my wife now Dave!

He's all mine

Cheers Newbold, a brilliant heads-up, scorchio.

Thanks OP!

Thanks.

Happy to help. But you're all my wives now..........;)

You can also download TIFF versions of ordnance survey maps (basically the exact maps you can buy), from ORDNANCE SURVEY.
Its called OS Open Data and you can download at quite a few different scales at ordnancesurvey.co.uk/ope…tml

although the streetview data is not as detailed.

I think country lanes on google are very hard to see white with thin outlines on white background compared to OS's yellow or white with thicker outlines
