To be honest I only make pumpkin pie, spiced pumpkin soup and I put it in veggie lasagna, nothing too adventurous but I love it

I'll be over for tea!

My sainsburys was selling these for 10p today, there were loads and loads left. When I got to the till I was told these were not suitable for eating! I put mine back.

Grabbed a free one yesterday and had pumpkin soup for lunch today!

It didnt put in my whole reply to that answer and won't let me edit it! I went on to say - there's nothing wrong with them, I've cut mine open and it's all stewing on the hob now

Chop them up ..also 2 or 3 onions and chopped carrot also put on a baking tray drizzle with a bit of oil and salt ..roast middle shelf quite high( normally gas mark 5 ) if that's not working go onto 6 and check after an hour .

Stick a knife in the flesh if it's soft enough put cling film over the tray and leave for an hour ..

After that scoop out the flesh and other bits into a blender

Add a cup 2'3 cups of vegetable 'chicken stock then pour into a pan 'add bayleaves
Paprika garlic powder(optional ) salt and pepper to taste

Tip: it tastes better the day after

Most of the pumpkins sold for Halloween are not fit to eat apparently....

pumpkin halwa

Pumpkin curry

From this article it says:

All pumpkins may be eaten, but there is a big difference among varieties.

Decorative pumpkins, which American children and patient parents carve just before Halloween, are grown with color, structural strength, a flat bottom, and a sturdy stem as their main attributes. The flesh tends to be bland, watery, and fibrous. No one cares because they're going to be carved and smashed in the street (or disposed of properly).

Too many people believe sell by dates, you can tell if food is off by the look and smell. There's no sell by dates on the Pumpkins I picked up

How do u make that? Tnx

you have prep the pumpkin by peeling and cutting into small chunks. loads of butter sugar and loads of cream. you can reduce the cream down first then add pumpkins or throw everything into at the same time. let it cook...stirring it to stop it sticking. it will eventually reduce the liquid will totally dry. it will start coming away from the pan. when you see the fat bubbling away ...you know it's ready. it's torally amazing because it tastes like toffee but pumpkin. you can add almonds raising to it if you like at the end.

but you have to make sure you cook it until gets to the thick stage...and the fat begins to bubble. it's pretty much like carrot halwa

sorry I couldn't give you exact measurements. ..we don't really measure stuff. but don't hold back on butter or cream. it's not something you'll eat everyday nor will you be able to eat it in large amounts. it can be frozen once cooked
