and guess who's paying for it??

The Scottish Government is paying for it, ****!

i cannot see where it states that it is only for the people of Scotland ? Can someone point out the relevant bit of this offer to me? I am obviously missing the obvious ! I do realise that it is to be used for travel within Scotland on scotrail services - but could it be used whilst on holiday for example?

Don't insult the Scots with inaccurate and flippant nonsense. Per head of population, the Scottish taxpayer pays more than his English or Welsh counterpart. Furthermore, given that the cardholder has to be over 50 then the likelihood is that they, personally, will have been paying income tax, national insurance and council tax for most of their adult life.

No free train rides. And, unfortunately for you, no free spectacles. Should have gone to Specsavers.

No. Governments have no money. They spend taxpayers money - usually very badly.

english halfwit thinks SCOTRAIL is funded by the English taxpayers, pmsl, considering its a PRIVATE franchise from the Netherlands

If the scots are so self-funded and self-sufficient and do not get any benefits from English / Welsh revenues PLUS its so beautiful then why would have been voted to stay in the Union?

I voted to stay in the union, and i live in Scotland, not sure what this stupid comment has got to do with a Railcard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i can see you're making a dig at scots ' if it's so great why haven't you closed the border ', but to remind you that almost half of us wanted the split and the other half were conned by promises/doomsday scaremongering, or simply wanted the status quo. it was a political referendum, doesn't matter that you don't really really appreciate why it was held, it was our right, we are a separate country from england but within a union, and whatever the result, i can say that i would rather live in scotland than england. and you would rather not live in scotland, good luck to you.

God Bless the Scottish People.
They voted to stay with the English & for that they will have my eternal Thanks.

I dont think its about paying its about who is making decision and giving some comfort to people as long as we have Tories in government, we can expect only harsh policies and attitude against normal human.

Scotland is my country too but government in Scotland seems to be far more generous then what we have in england. what German gained from nationalism? Hitler and What we gained from nationalism, Tories....

How stupid can you be??! This is a promotional offer by a private company, paid for by a private company because they think it will increase their profits. NO government funds involved.
Unlike the millions of Scottish taxes that have gone to subsidise English rail services and infrastructure!

Hot racist deals , who we going to pick on next ? The Irish or maybe the lazy Greeks

So we English bring the Scottish parliament to rule England as well then we would be in it together and we can all pay more tax per head. Using this principle there would be so much income then the new extended Scottish parliament would be running a budget surplus and wipe out the trillion debt in no time. Or is this too daft?

care to back that up with something more than the smell of bull####?

Scots should be concentrating on the Euro referendum, leave 2014 in the past-another independence referendum will come in a decade, the last thing we need is a class war before then.

Or possibly because Scotland is less densely populated than England and can afford to do stuff like this...? About 5 million vs 53 million....hmmmmmm. Let me just get my Government expense per head calculator out....

In other HUKD baiting news : Cornwall also wants independence from England.

I also notice there are a lot more exclamation marks per head in Scotland than anywhere else in the UK.
