"I hope this note finds you well- and while that is kind of a cliche way to start a message, considering the state of our world at the moment, it seems appropriate.

This week is kind of a "double" event- the release of a brand new recording, and the recording being "name your own price".

"Path to Returning" is an hour-long set of music that was recorded in October 2017 for the Star's End radio program at WXPN in Philadelphia, PA. Whenever I'm in town to do a concert, Star's End host Chuck van Zyl graciously invites me to play a live, on the air set.

And this set turned out to be one of the most peaceful sets I've played at Star's End. My hope is that this recording will give you at least a moment of peace in these uncertain times.

You can find the album at the link below, and name your own price- including "free"!!

Take care, stay safe, and be healthy,"

Jeff

This album consists of my live performance on the Star's End radio program in October of 2017. As with all of my previous live shows on Star's End, my set was improvised, beginning to end.

In the case of this set, however, I used some nature elements to ease the transitions from one part of the set to the other, and i found this incredibly satisfying from an improvisation point of view; the music i create in my home studio is often informed by the presence, outside my house, of the sound of birds, the rain, and a stream that runs through my property. It was nice to have a few of those elements to incorporate into my live improvisation, and these elements can be heard on the first track "Forest Afternoon".

The second song, "Path to Returning", is a gentle and spacious exploration featuring some long delay loops. What i most remember about this piece was how it really didn't have a defined direction for quite a while- and how good that felt; I was just looking for a path to follow, but was enjoying the "audio scenery" until one presented itself.
