Free replacement PSP or PS3 for your broken or faulty one?

Apparently Sony are running an exchange program for faulty PSP and PS3s. Even if it's out of warranty [Edit: May not work if they ask and you remember buying it more than a year ago....], as long as the warranty sticker is intact (you haven't opened the case to fiddle with the insides) and you've got the battery and charger then they'll send out a refurbished one via parcelforce and pick up your dud one to take back. This is all free of charge (less the phone call). It's said this even covers broken screens.
I noticed this while surfing eBay and noticed lots of people selling this info for anywhere between a couple of quid and twenty. After digging around a bit I found this handy info from a concerned eBay member..... reviews.ebay.co.uk/PSP…687
Sony's number for this is 08705 998877, or try the cheaper geographic number 01923 653598.

(Not really a surprise outcome)

You'll get a warranty for the repairs to your PS3, and if you opt to pay to fix it you will not have to sell your PS3 games (presumably at a loss) to buy comparable titles for a new Xbox 360.

If you don't have that many PS3 games already, then just go with the console that offers you the best selection of titles at this point rather than what influenced your decision to buy a PS3 initially.

If you have bought a few PlayStation Network downloadable titles then you will not be able to recoup your outlay with those, so it pay be beneficial to pay for the repairs to your existing console.

You're right though... paying £131 to fix a 60Gb PS3 console may not be a worthwhile investment if you consider how much you could buy a new PS3 for (not necessarily a 120Gb or 250Gb "slim" model, but a new 80Gb "phat" machine).

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Right im new here and dont really mind if people are bothered about how i … Right im new here and dont really mind if people are bothered about how i went about this. This service does still work i have a psp 2003 and the screen broke, mine is being replaced tommorow and heres what i did:- Called the number provided by the kind leader of this thread.- Said my psp was broken as UMD's wont load and its slow. (In actual fact the screen is smashed)- I made a clear point whern asked when i got it that my parents brought it for me as a gift within the past 12 months (April 18th i stated)- I was asked to give a serial and made one up as mine couldnt be used. ( Example of proper code is... 0828411017079 6891 - PSP 2003)- I was then asked to pick a time for delivery.Simple as that and i have a new psp on the way. I have used the service before and know that they do not check the product or come back to you as in gonesty last time i swapped a FAT psp for a slim one.Simple do'd and dont's, - Dont be stupid enough to admit if you have a smashed screen as this is clearly something you did, and same goes hand in hand with any physical damage!, always simply state is the system playing up. - Dont ask about a refurbishment, they are going to offer as long as you say its faulty and give a date within warrenty! Asking for a refurbished model clearly gives them the idea you could be taking the mickey.- Dont ever say you got it yourself, if they find out you could have proof of purchase you will have to provide it or will be rejected!- Do emphesis it was a gift!!!!- Do Make a date up with 12 months, somewhere around the 7 month mark is generally good!- Do act calm and normal letting the rep ask the questions without trying to push things.- Do feel free to change the digits of the number i proivded above which they will ask for making sure the 082 at the front are not changed.I really hope this helps people, and sorry to any who are offended by me giving this evil advice on how to cheat sony!!! If you dont like it you obviously shouldnt be on here and no one really cares. Also to the chap whos making all the silly comments this is not the continuose play service, this is the warrenty service and sony would have been smarter to be more stringent with this and enforce continuos play rather than shutting it down!.Thats about that thought hope this helpsm, and let me know if i missed anything.Kind Regards too all

Above the deleted post fanpages quoted is the whole reason Why Honest people who have problems with their products cannot get them fixed due to people like you that cheat the system,

It is not funny
It is not smart either
It is not fair on other people Who do have a genuine problem.

Shame you on you is all i can say.

Also because you say you made up a serial number, That person who has that serial number will probably be unable to get their product fixed because you lied.
Regarding this, here are some answers...

I called up once and they said that because console is 2yrs they would charge £131 for a refurb unit. I rung them up again and said it was 11 months old and gave them serial # and they told me they would need proof of purchase for this to be replaced under warrenty and if i cannot find this (i said it was a gift) I would need to pay the out of warrenty price )-:
does this still work with a ps3 60gb purchased from ebay that is faulty with the warranty sticker still intact? but may be out of the warranty date?

LOL - No chance mate

they stopped making these years ago
Would this work on an older psp? My serial number starts 01-274.....

It's a PSP 1004 model

thanks in advance
I think unless the model was commercially sold within the last 12-18 months then you would be struggling. I got my 1st gen replaced about 10 months after the slim & lite had come out so it could have been bought within the past 12 months.

There are stories about saying it is a different model but that's up to you if you want to go down that path.

Can you explain adequately (to Sony UK) why you didn't buy a UK model but opted for one sourced from Europe, the Middle East, or Africa?

At the top it says: EXPIRED - Free replacement PSP or PS3 for your broken or faulty one?
What's with the EXPIRED? Is this deal still up? Or has it EXPIRED?
