Slightly disappointed with this site. You can see the scores, but you can't read why it was given it in the first place.

I'm looking at a restaurant I've eaten in (amongst others) and it's been given a rating of 0 - "Urgent Improvement Necessary". Well ok, but what was it in particular that caused it to go down to the lowest rating?

May email the local authorities and ask why.

Edit* Requested 'Freedom of Information' report. We'll see how that goes.

Sometimes on the surface it all looks ok food tastes ok... but the FSA and LA get to investigate deep in and find more depressing situations..... I have seen these TV shows where franchises looks to be following strict guidelines but even the local branch manager of one franchisee hasn't been taken through the H&S steps of food hygiene... It is worth talking to the LA of the concerned restaurant where you have eaten, but in case be prepared for the worst as the rating is 0... but if it turns out ok to your standard then keep continue eating.....

Thank you!!!

I work right next to Brick Lane... Going to be interested to do an area search and check for cleanliness

Well here goes 100 resturants 1000 takeaways

Its been free and out for a while now.
I prefer the scores on the doors website as it gives you the break down of the report in a pdf.
They have apps but I've not tried them to know if you can view the reports on it.

It is safe to say you should avoid that place. The fact that you eat there regularly doesn't mean their kitchen is not a disaster.
I worked in a few restaurants and I was shocked of what I've seen. Surprised they are not put in jail.
One thing was repeated in all of them, they didn't care they do not have any soap in the staff toilet, all those people handling your food didn't wash their hands the entire work day. Also one of the chefs developed a bad case of urinary infection and spent a day half the time in the toilet, I was constantly wondering what is he doing there without soap.

And yet people are more at risk from cooking in their own filthy germ infested
kitchens where they have cats running around on the worktops, have a fridge that
is cleaned out once a year..

Very helpful! Thanks OP!

Great app, just searched for a local pizza shop '0'

Maybe in your kitchen. Some people clean their homes.

But also they are not inviting others into their home and charging them to eat there. They only have a responsibility to themselves.

You know what they say about assumptions..

I've worked as a chef for 10 years, then as a EHO for 2 years..

The majority of domestic kitchens will never even be half a clean as
a commercial kitchen.

Bit random, but I helped create a prototype for this app a few years ago

I just found out my favourite indian has only 1 star oO

I'm still waiting on my Freedom of Information request from last week. My email has gone all around the houses it seems, although this is much to the fault of Southwark Council than anyone else.

Here's a step-by-step guide into my current progress.

1. Sent an email to Food.Regen@southwark.gov.uk as specified on FSA. - 30/01
2. Moments later I get "Delivery to the following recipients failed" email. - 30/01
3. Re-sent email to csc@southwark.gov.uk - 30/01
4. Email from csc@southwark.gov.uk telling me request has been forwarded to correct dept. - 31/01
5. Email from northhousing@southwark.gov.uk stating "I have sent your request to the Environmental Health and Trading Standards Service (EHTS) Corporate freedom of Information Officer" - 31/01
6. Email from Bernadette.*******@southwark.gov.uk (email redacted) stating "I have forward your Freedom of Information request to the Council's Freedom of Information Officer the Freedom of Information Officer will be responding to your Service Request." - 31/01
7. Email from environmentaccessinfo@southwark.gov.uk stating "Your request is being dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and you will receive a response within 20 working days of the date that we received your request. There will be an assessment and if any of the exemptions categories apply then the information may not be released. You will be informed if this is the case, including your rights of appeal." 04/02

I have to say that this is the longest run around I've had in the last 5 years at least. Not impressed with how slow their staff are to be honest. A simple request should not have to jump through so many hoops.

I will no doubt let others know if anything changes. Really want to know why one of my favourites was given a 0.
