Hilarious, the only thing that could make it funnier would be for you to subsequently need life-saving assistance from that person.

I used this past week and got back full return charge
Is there any way to know how many free returns you have left?
Used this after I seen it posted before, got a £15 refund on a big parcel I returned. Well worth a repost reminder

Why would I need it from them if they are posting an item? Bizarre comment!

It's people like you that have ruined life by not having a sense of humour! And if you had a clue how eBay works you will know that in fact this costs the seller nothing if buyer takes up the option - just sayin!!

It wil get better now , returns terms changed now , sellers can actually refund only partially after accepting return and deduct for any damage or postage costs if a return reason chosen by buyer wasn't right...not all know it yet
All those "buyer remorse" items returned for wrong reason as SNAD etc...now seller can decide how much to refund. Hopefully buyers will realise that eBay is starting to monitor those returns....

Apparently I've already activated this, must have been a long time ago and I've not claimed with it.
I can't find anywhere that shows when my cover ends

Why just the other day a "customer" thought it was reasonable enough to return a shaver he bought 3 weeks ago because he "just didn't think it was as good as he expected". His return was declined but regardless eBay seems to have turned into some kind of try before you buy.

Yes of course you can return an expensive £100+ used item thats been rubbed all over your lovely face that doesn't have a fault...give me a break

Humm. IIRC I activated this again for this year. I think I read it ran till the end of year if it helps.

Generally this is OK if you know what is what. I recently returned an item, got a return label sent to print out, assumed I wasn't paying the return (item not as described - in fact a totally different item) - then much later got a PM from the seller asking what I paid return so they could refund me oO . Looked in Paypal account and a note simply said the item could not be returned under this scheme. The note was linked to a page full of lists about when you can and can't use the scheme. To this day I have no Idea who paid return post - and it was a frikkin big parcel.

PS My first return in about 8 years.

Oh yeah? Postage is now free is it? Course it costs sellers something.

Now granted, it'll probably put item not received claims down (I speak from experience, after offering no quibble free returns) but every return costs money.

No it's eBay policies that has. They charge insane fee and if anything go wrong seller is the only one that loses. I am selling something the eBay only fee is £58 than Paypal and postage.
Insane
Excellent find thankyou so much
Does this work if I pay via a credit card via PayPal? I have had a PayPal account for years but today used a exogenous credit card to buy some clothes on eBay - instead of my linked bank account - just to keep the CC supplier happy so they don't cancel my card for under-use.
Guys maybe on this occasion it's ok but when you see links like this leading to financial websites, you should always be cautious and never click on them straight away x
it is good to know I could use this to shop online (not ebay). l like to buy clothes /shoes online to save me times and trips. But a great deal of chances that is not right size for me. So I now normally just buy from amazon for free return.

With this, I could have more choices . Just not sure how many times limit?

Change of mind returns only apply to ebay sellers with business accounts.

Those stating they won't list items, etc etc are rather confused about how ebay works

If you're a private seller, this deal should make no difference to you! - if you don't want to accept change of mind returns, then select no returns on your listing! (note a scammer can still claim item not as described and get you to pay for return postage!)

If you're a business seller, there are still positives from this 'deal', sometimes buyers will state item is faulty or even purposely damage items just so they can return it for free..however with this deal, there is no need and rather than you footing the return postage bill, it's on PayPal. This could theoretically raise sells and unsure buyers make more purchases and most end up keeping the item anyway.

Scammers have always and will always scam by stating item not as described, this isn't ebays fault, it's distance selling laws (CCR). It's abused not only on ebay but amazon, and just about every other online retailer.

if your're a buyer. it means you can return an item without paying return postage.

win win all round.

A good deal, fourth time posted this year
I sold something where the parcel was lost. I tried putting the tracking number in ebay but it wouldn't accept Hermes tracking. The item was lost by hermes (£130) phone. Hermes said it was on it's way back to me for some reason then ebay did an instant refund meaning they would not refund the FVF. how can they charge me a fee on something that was lost without informing me or giving me a deadline to do a refund. It had only been a week and I had already agreed a refund date of the next day with the buyer. EBAY are getting a bit cheeky and pretty sure charging a me a fee for something that was never actually sold is illegal. Hey ho, not as if I am going to take EBAY to court!,PS, it took a month of haggling with Hermes too, but they finally at least refunded me my £130 as it was insured for that amount.

Ebay

I gave the buyer a partial refund for the item they claimed was … I gave the buyer a partial refund for the item they claimed was significantly not as described. Is this sufficient? We will check with the buyer to see if they are satisfied. If yes, then we would take no further action. If no, we may hold you accountable for the significantly not as described item and ask the buyer to return the item to you. If we then refund the buyer the remaining balance, we may seek to recover the additional amount from you.

everyone has been talking about ebay... just to check, this will cover return postage costs to one of the clothes retailers which charges for it?
Used this loads of times, never had any issues, money is usually back within 24 hours.
I have tried to use this return shipping refund service from paypal for three parcels and they locked my paypal account and now I can't use paypal at all. They told me I had too many refund requests. So I have lost 40 GBP for return shipping and lost my paypal as I can't register new paypal with same credit card.
This is the main reason why I don't sell items on ebay any more. I'd rather sell on Gumtree or Shpock. After all the Ebay fees and Paypal fees, the difference in selling price isn't that different. Except tons less hassle on Gumtree/Shpock.

Paypal blocking you had nothing to do with this offer, you most likely had a lot of returns overtime in total and luckily PayPal is taking good example from Amazon and started booting those who abuse the system.
Not saying that you did, it could happen to anyone who had a lot of bad luck too and did not abuse the system. There is a certain number of returns that anyone can make before getting permanently banned.
Returns are not free even with PayPal refunding the return charge to buyer or seller ,seller is out of pocket every time, outgoing postage was paid for and it will not be refunded to seller by anyone obviously. Not to mention people who are buying two or three of items only because they not sure if they will fit and returning two out of three orders....
I always forget to use this!
I paid for a purchase when they had the Nectar double-up offer. It shows on my PayPal as £0.00, although I did use PayPal to complete the transaction. I wonder if this would be covered, as the Ts and Cs state that the purchase must be completed entirely with PayPal? I have tried asking PayPal on Twitter but they do not answer specific questions, even with direct message. Anyone tried it for this type of purchase?

I agree with you in principle however ebay allows change of mind returns for items that cannot be resold due to hygiene and cannot be returned in saleable condition.
Obviously no business seller is going to quibble a change of mind for an unopened item or an item has been inspected and then placed in it's box so it can be resold as new.

Indeed, but this is the cost of doing business on ebay, No one is forcing businesses to trade on ebay

Comments above were from private sellers.
