three.co.uk/Dis…ome
(Remember to read all T&C before going abroad, they can be seen below)
So for example i have 2000 mins/5000 texts and unlimited data on my plan.
If i travel to Hong Kong i can roam on any network and use my minutes and texts to call any UK number. I can also receive calls for free and i can use data in the country for free because my allowance is unlimited. The only thing that costs is if i go over my allowances or if i make any local calls, they are charged at standard rate.
The best way to take advantage of this deal is buy a Three UK pay as you go sim. Top up £15 and buy the 300 min/3000 texts and unlimited data add on. Then when you travel to any of those countries you can use the allowances there free of charge. If you're already a three mobile customer then you're already set.
I originally posted this a while back on a different website but decided to post here because it's a hot deal i guess.
Limitations on Feel At Home.

Official blurb "Note: If you're new to Three and have a new Pay Monthly SIM plan with us, you won't be able to use your SIM abroad for the first 30 days of your contract. If you want to use your phone abroad, you'll need to call us after 30 days to activate international roaming."

Worst network by far....
Just wish these rip off companies include the 0870/0845 numbers now!
Well, that makes little sense. The situation has not changed for France and Spain in the last 10 years when you seemed to be happy. Now that they're rolling out something new, the situation for you has not changed and so you're no worse off and you're not happy. Odd.
No they haven't.
They stopped the original roaming plan back in 2009. This is a new version with added benefits as described in post 24.
I had this deal back in 2008 when I worked on ships in the Baltic, for use in Denmark and Sweden. When in those countries, my phone connected to their partner networks 3 DK and 3 SE, and I made calls as intended.
On my arrival back in the UK I was hit with massive roaming charges: £50-£100 per month. Three said I was on rival non-3 networks, but given that I was using a 3 SIM and a 3-branded phone and it said "3 SE"/"3 DK" on my screen, I don't see how I could've done any more to ensure I was using their networks.
3 UK then insisted they had no responsibility for their international networks and that I'd have to pay. It all ended in a sorry mess with hours of calls, Ombudsmen and debt collectors.
It sounds like a great deal on paper, but unless something has changed, you simply cannot depend on this feature/deal working as intended.

Worst analogy (or opinion as you call it) ever.
You do realise that when you're in America the signal doesn't have travel all the way from the UK, right?
Also, if you think that Facebook is the only reason for having internet connectivity on a device, then you sir, are not enjoying technology.
Yep, with PAYG, you top up £15 which if you did nothing else is £15 PAYG credit amount that lasts forever* - however if you then convert this credit to become an 'add on' you choose the £15 Add On which then means it lasts 30 days and gives 300mins/unlimited data which can then be used in one of the feel at home countries and the call costs are the same as if in the UK. (Unlimited UK data is capped at 25Gb when abroad)
Once you have your PAYG SIM, register with Three so you can top up, check balance etc..... roaming should work once you log on, go to international settings and tick the option to enable data roaming - although it may be ticked already
*topped up credit added lasts forever as long as you make a call once every 6 months give or take where as add ons expire after 30 days whether you use them up or not.
Use the Three App to check your balance easily. Don't expect streaming services like Spotify or Netflix to work well or at all.... data seems slow/restricted on that sort of thing but is usable for Facebook, emails, web browsing, sat nav etc.

Nope, it's automatic.

Agree with you there. Hopefully there are plans for more countries to be added soon!
That's not the same at all. O2 charge standard rate (which is extortionate). Three charge UK rates or just out of your inclusive allowance.
So for example (as posted in the OP) You can buy a three sim for £15 with 300 mins/3000 texts and unlimited data and use those allowances when abroad. So it'll only cost you £15 for what should be more than enough for a months holiday.

Thanks to the EU, if you travel to any country in the EU you will be treated just as though you are at home. The EU is banning data roaming charges from July 2014.
Whilst some could argue three are making this semi-premature move in order to gain customers and look like an awesome company, I still think its pretty cool how they abolished charges in the Hong Kong, something which was not required of them.
But hey, all we hear about the EU is how it bans straight bananas, so of course we miss the real stuff it does for us
I used it first time around (2007 ish) in Italy and never had any problems, I just made sure I was on the 3 Italian network and set the handset to Manual network selection rather than automatic. Given the new one is any network then it should not require any thought, unless you are on a border with a country that is not covered.
Good move in my opinion.
YAWN.........
more user error here I think.. used it in Ireland and no issues
Everything worked as it should, with no need for setting up before I left the UK

They did, number of differences between now and then though.
-This offer is available to all customers even on pay as you go and mobile broadband tariffs
-The offer allows roaming on all networks, you do not have to be on the countries three home network.
-The offer includes unlimited data
-More countries are planned to be added soon (unconfirmed)
Yes sorry. HUKD must have changed my link. Here you go-
three.co.uk/Dis…ome?

otherwise its not too bad
i'll keep three only if i get an amazing upgrade deal and if 4G speed arrives and usable
