Don't let this opportunity to see the works of one of the pop art greats pass you by. Free exhibition at Tate Liverpool until 17th June 2018.

Explore over 20 works charting Roy Lichtenstein’s (1923–1997) early interest in landscape to his iconic pop paintings influenced by comic strips and advertising imagery. The free display also presents Lichtenstein’s three-screen installation, his only work with film, which was made after spending two weeks at Universal Studios in 1969.

A rare opportunity to see Lichtenstein’s work in the grim north of England, It’s an exhibition not to be missed!

A good exhibition. And good value as the Tate often charge a bit extra for these artist specific exhibitions.

(although Whaam which dondraper mentioned unfortuanatly isn’t included in it which I think is a missed opertunity for the Tate to show it as part of a larger collection of his works and to show it outside of London)
Guess I’m off on a trip to Liverpool. Thanks
Sorry! Fat fingers hit cold when I went for hot! Have some virtual heat
I went to this a while ago. Great that it is free and I really enjoyed it. Downside is that it is quite a small exhibition. There is other stuff to see though - they have a Rothko pic too, and other galleries.
Roy Hodgson made an exhibition of himself a few years ago in Liverpool.
Wow! Exciting! Thank you so much!
Seen this last month, was really good, also all the museums in Liverpool are free entry so you have lots to see and do in Scouseland

Thanks op, something nice to do over the school holidays
Even though this is a freebie, it’s still a great ‘deal’ when you consider that an exhibition of such a notable artist in the Tate Modern would probably be north of £15 per adult.

Cheers OP

Look at that a mod CAN move a post into the freebie section. Now how to get them to do that when it comes to freebie/reminders when it comes to games.

Heat for the reminder, not sure about the grim up north bit but it will also be a great op if you like millenial spotting. They will be flocking to this.
Excellent stuff.

We'll be going to this before we have to return to the post New Year grind.

HUKD Northern meet up?

We'll be the ones sat n the cafe eating our own sandwiches after ordering one Coke with 4 straws.
This isn't a Freebie, you are paying for this through your council tax so some arty farties can have what to them is a good time.

Is what some people might say.

Makes me want to visit Liverpool, have not been their for decades.
saw the exhibition. Really good and you'd probably have to pay to see it in London.
If you]re in Liverpool check out the Bluecoat and FACT…and all the other brilliant FREE galleries there.
We go there a lot to see my son and have a culture feast.
Hope they do this at the tate modern.
In it
Lichtenstein sounds great pronounced in a slightly exaggerated scouse accent
anyone have a link to the pictures on display ?

thanks
Don't support this plagiarist/thief even for free.

Copying other artists work in a larger format isn't a talent, it's theft.
Albert Dock is a great place, much prefer a weekend in Liverpool to one in London etc. People are great and plenty to see and do ...We usually go as a family and try to get a long weekend , on the way up half a days shopping in Mcarther Glen on the Wirral for the missus then 2 or three nights in Jury's Inn in Albert Dock ,museums ,shopping and .........catch a Liverpool game if we're lucky (league cup or suchlike).
Hotel prices are reasonable as long as there's a big event in the Echo arena etc.

A face like a bag of spanners and the talent of a rock.
Emin being appointed as the Royal Academy's Professor of Drawing was a turning point for me. I no longer believe the "arts" should receive a single penny of taxpayers money.

There is no original thought. Oasis copied The Beatles, Shakin Stevens copied Elvis, Ed Sheeran copied that busker outside Primark.
Nice one. Going staying in Liverpool tomorrow
