Safe & Well Visits…

Firefighters now spend much of their time visiting people in their homes, discussing fire safety and offering advice to eliminate or reduce the risk of a fire happening in their home. They also discuss a practical fire escape plan to make sure that if the worst does happen, the occupants can escape safely with their families.
During a Safe and Well visit, we will:
During a Safe and Well visit, we will:
- accompany you to assess fire safety in every room in your property
- identify and make you aware of the potential fire risks in your home
- make sure you know what to do in order to reduce or prevent these risks
- discuss with you, a bed-time routine that will help keep you safe at night
- help you put together an escape plan in case a fire breaks out in the future
- ensure you have a working smoke alarm, and ensure you know how to test and maintain it
- Give basic advice on topics such as:
- Crime prevention
- Falls prevention
- Cold homes
- Smoking cessation
- Social isolation
- assess the need for free interventions to help you reduce the risk of fire in your home
- refer you (with your permission of course) to agencies that may offer further help to keep you safe and well.

I received one from our local one. Didn't do anything ..didnt Check the house etc. Waste of the 10mins they were here.
... Question and record your drug and alcohol use
... Question and record your lifestyle and advise losing weight
... Questioning and checking your vehicle and noting that tyre tread depths etc might be illegal.
All in the guise of looking after you of course.
Maybe they realise that those points are not quite so appealing. Or maybe they just forgot.
What job were you offering?
Haha I don't think I could offer them owt lo
I'm not. I work as a carer with vulnerable people. We had firefighters come out 2 years agoand said they don't give them out anymore and if they need them they had to purchase and put them up themselves. So it might happen in your area but it certainly doesn't in ours and in many others. The visits free, they pinpoint people to areas if lonely etc do the rest is right but you are very wrong that they will just give them out for free in all areas

limited amount ie not unlimited. They also direct you to your housing association who will say it is your responsibilit

Will comeand advise you, not one to your home and fit them for free. There's no one side fits all!
As on the link it says they will give advice about fire alarms, not give them out fre
You even posted a link to your fire service which stated they do provide free smoke alarms even though above you state "it certainly doesn't" happen. That is what I meant by misleading
IT says MAY! Which when I was at work they advised to get one, wouldn't provide one for free and this was someone that should have been given one. They just told us to get one from the shop. I wouldn't be saying it to take up space, they don't have the fund
"We may also fit smoke alarms and provide additional safety equipment if they are needed. All of these services are provided free of charge"
london-fire.gov.uk/Hom…asp
another MAY - Ie not one size fits al
fireservice.co.uk/saf…ty/
oh oh what a surprise, another MAY - they don't I am telling you. I've had it work a few times where we've had to get them even after they've came out. I'm not giving out incorrect info, just no good giving people false hop
IT says
"We may also fit smoke alarms and provide additional safety equipment if they are needed"
Right there, it says they do provide it when needed. Read the sentence a few more times before responding again about it. Don't understand what agenda you have here
As you're giving people false hope that they will give them out for free. Do it then come back - i bet I'm righ
So now you've heard from a firefighter, Gov.uk website, and various fire service websites.
If you had a bad experience with your service during a visit or didn't understand the information they provided then you must get back in touch with them, but going online and saying "they don't provide alarms, no" is totally wrong and misleading and could prevent people from inquiring with potentially terrible consequences
Must be a rarety then.
Exactly ...
As the OP said "Home Fire Risk Assessment".
So what's a work based wotnots got to do with anything?, lol.
