Thanks OP. I get to the end of the registration / checkout and there's a £2 charge that appears unavoidable. No great shakes however does this stay on the fob as a pre-paid access fee for when you next use the fob, even if that's months down the line? Thanks.

bikes are for riding in clean fresh air in the countryside anyway not in smog

Soon there may be Boris drones to compliment his shopping list of vehicles: bikes, cable cars, water cannon tanks,

No where near 10% as it is an enormous swarm (it really makes Calais scene a desert by comparison) otherwise at 800,000 bikes.

Yeah, that stays on the fob and gets used for your first use. Maybe it's just to pre-auth your card to make sure it's legit! It doesn't expire (I use mine >6months after I paid for it last time)

After you have registered, you can login to your account and in there you can see that they have deducted the £2 that they have charged during registration. I believe it's for verificationpurposes.
Wonder if they're still trying to clear old fob stock..

For a £2 unlock fee you can have unlimited rides in one day as long as they're shorter than 30 mins. If you're really trying to save but want to do longer journeys then keep swapping your bike every time you're close to 30 mins.
