Found 8th Oct 2012
I have just been on the phone to Sky, & they have told me all about a deal that landed 2 weeks ago. It is slightly complicated to understand and took me a while to take it all in. But the example is below:-

ONLY FOR CURRENT CUSTOMERS

Initial Subscription Box (that you took when signed up to sky) in your living room. Your paying £40.00 P/M & £10.25 for HD Pack

Multiroom Box in your bedroom (added at a later date). Your paying an additional £10.25 for the subscription.

NOW.... You want another Multiroom subscription...... Ring Sky. You get a Sky+ HD Box for FREE (should be £199) & Free installation.

So now you've got 2 Multiroom Subscriptions & your first box. Sky then automatically deduct your HD Subscription off of your bill.

So the £10.25 you was paying for HD Pack, will be discounted for the whole 12 months & replaced by another Multiroom subscription for £10.25.

Therefore making your 2nd Multiroom subscription free.......
Only works when you have the 3rd box installed....

Something for nothing, from Sky!

Was thinking of using WDTV in my daughters bedroom but this might be better

Seems too good to be true from sky

£60.50 a month plus £14 tv license =£74.50 a month on tv = £888 per year.

just a thought. that will be another 12 months added to sub.

is it only for the year, then the HD price will be added back on?

They just offered me the entertainment extra package at £13 per month for the next year on a rolling monthly basis. I still think that's too much.

Does anyone pay full price for SKY? I have not, half price for 5 years.

That's certainly expensive but I suppose it's all relative. £2.43 a day but you could always cut back on other things to make the difference i.e cheaper food, not smoking, drinking less etc. etc.

After a year the HD pack will not be added back on. I thought it was worth while as it is technically no extra cost to yourself.

Yes it does add another 12 Months on to the subscription, but it's technically not costing you anything for that 12 months.

which number did you call for this?

Telephone number 020 7126 7020 & went through to cancellations.

I would sooner eat properly than waste money on Sky ( repeats and adverts ).. nothing worth watching.

This sounded amazing but after just been on the phone to Sky I've been advised there is no such offer on inbound calls. Possibly the sales team are randomly cold calling current customers regarding these new promotions but because they didn't call me directly the offer ins't available!! Another let down from Sky.......what makes another customer more qualified to receive this offer than I am???!!!! I'm appalled!!!

so you were wanting to leave and they offerd you this? not exactly a deal if you have to go through to cancellations ..

Just aksed for this and Sky didn't have a clue what I was talking about.

On phone now, already 2 x multiroom so seeing if they can just add it now. Think one maybe older than 12 months so can cancel and order new box worst case.

A woman called Carol spoke to me in the cancellations department at 11AM this morning. I thought it was too good to be true, but she spoke to her manager whilst on the phone to me, and she confirmed that she had the same subscription on her account at home. Apparently it is something new and has only just been made available.

No i was not wanting to leave, i ordered a new Multiroom subscription last week for the standard Sky+HD box and then my mother-in-law told me that they had just been given the multiroom for free because it was their third box in the house, and i rang up, went through to cancellations and told them this was not fair and that i wanted to cancel my installation that was suppose to take place this week. When she asked why i explained to her, and she put me on hold and came back and told me that i should go ahead with it as it will be free for me to do so and then she explained the deal above. She told me that it was something new that only came in recently but she did say that it is available to anyone who requires it and has their third box added, apparently it's something they dont even deal with, it is system generated upon installation.

I shall be sure to post back here when i get my breakdown letter through explaining my new bill.

I might give this a try. Jgm1993 please do keep us updated!

Got it in one, well not to the point of paying Sky to watch them.

I will definitely let you know. She gave me a break down of my bill on the phone, and it appeared true to her words that this in fact will be free for me.

So, I got told that the as an existing 2x multi-room subscriber I will get a letter in the post telling me that the HD charge will be removed from my account AUTOMATICALLY so I don't need to do anything.

Well, I'm confused. Is this an actual offer or not :-/

I have been with sky for over 3 years and my current half price offer recently expired so I told them I would be happy to continue if they could do the same offer. The Chap on the phone said unfortunately they cant do that offer for half price for 6 months anymore and sky are not going to be having any more offers for any customers in the future as they have stopped doing offers...oO

He then went on to say because I have been with sky on half price offers I should renew and pay the full price to repay sky for the loyalty they have shown me by paying them around £76.00 a month. I calmly thanked him for his time and put the phone down.

Someone is giving themselves a cheeky £6.00 discount in their sums (12*74.50=894), or is this what happens if you use Quidco in your calculations

Just got a similar deal. Self install, at my request, with £15 for delivery. Free extra multiroom for 12 months.
Don't know why this is so cold. I would not have thought to ask for free box and multiroom unless the OP posted this deal.
Edited by: "banerama" 8th Oct 2012

The cold votes are maybe from people who like me have phoned sky and been told no such deal

I have it on good authority that Sky multiroom will become a fixed monthly charge and you can then have as many multiroom boxes as you can squeeze in your house (subject to LNB feeds avail). Albeit you will have to buy the boxes if there is not a promo on. ie if you have 1, 2, 3, or 4 multiroom boxes the charge will be the same.

As this has not been advertised yet, its likely that some staff arent clued up properly as yet. (i'd guess)

Yes, but I persisted and was eventually put through to someone who was keen to offer me a deal. I did not threaten to cancel. I merely mentioned that I was aware of an offer on second multiroom subscriptions. The Sky rep. was very keen to help put together a deal and eventually after about 18 minutes on the phone the deal was done.

Paying for HD or multiroom is rediculous!!!

how much loner will we have to pay for hd? Shirley it will be offered free soon as it is becoming the standard??

Shirley you cant be serious

Just got half price movies for 6 months, they called me

ive been with sky for a long time and never had any calls from them with offers, i pay 40 quid a month, i phoned the cancellations just to test if they'd offer me any deal to keep me and they said i could have multi-room for £2.50 a month for 12 months if i buy the box for £200, next best offer was 10% off my bill for a year, not impressed

Similar rubbish given to me after a very long phone call. Would have to pay £49 for box, £60 for instillation and £10.25 pm for additional subscription. Tried twice as well and got same response each time. Gotta love sky, considering I got full package inc HD, multiroom, phone and broadband.
