Free Sky+ Remote Control - Easy Grip (qualifying customers)

This is a re-post of an earlier offer, due to Sky now having stock again

In 2007 we developed the Sky+ Easy Grip Remote Control for customers with mobility impairments and physical disabilities. This is the first Accessible Remote and has been awarded an Age OK Accreditation. As well as being designed to be easy to grip, the remote also has raised buttons with larger text.

There are also additional navigation points on the buttons most often used. There are two styles both offering all the familiar features of the iconic Sky+ remote - either a textured easy-grip option or a hand strap option, to help customers with dexterity problems.

Our disabled customers can receive an Easy grip remote control free of charge.

If you would like to request the remote control you can use our help request form or contact the Accessible Customer Service Team on 08442 410333.

It doesn't say free anywhere. What if you get charged, since you have to provide your account number there is a risk of you getting charged.

Hot or disabled customers, I won't be taking one though, nor should any able bodied person

Well I have ordered one as I have gone through 2 of their hd remotes in a year due to the buttons stopping working!

...although...to be controversial....the remotes do stop working, and at £20+ in the shops when your Sky subscription could be £70/80/90 month, it should be shame on Sky for providing such shoddy hardware - and we should all get replacements for free when the supplied remotes are so sh1t...[rant over]

This is the 4th time I've ordered, perhaps I might get one this time lol. And yes I am disabled

Listen there's no real benefit to these controllers,i requested and got one about year ago and apart from having a ridge on the side they really don't make anything easier for disabled people and they are free if you just ring up or email them saying your disabled, yes you can blag them but honest this type of controller will not change your life in any great way,it don't do the ironing or give oral treats,in fact its bigger than the newer control you get with HD slim boxes so if you got small hands your going to struggle a bit, anyway they are free and i got mine fast in past. Get one whatever as you dont get much free form SLY anytime.

If we were with Sky, I'd have no problem with getting one of these because they're free. I mean, if Sky decide to give them out for free, that's Sky's fault not mine. I'd rather take as much money I can from Murdoch, considering that they'd be getting a lot from me, if we were Sky customers

And then there's the fact that the remotes fail. It can serve as redundant stock. To all the people complaining about getting one because you need one, as opposed to want one etc... I hope you apply that same logic to all other freebie deals. Otherwise, you're just hypocrites

Requested 1 first time round, never received it!!

Damn, not with SKy anymore....

what's the difference between the bubble and the strap remote? i can't see the photos on my pc.

I can't believe people see this as getting money out of sky and murdoch, how stupid can you be?
If you had a disabled person who actually needed one of these and couldn't get one because morons like some of you took them all I'm sure you would be peed off!

This is a great deal for people who NEED them, sometime people on here make me feel sick.

The strap on one would be great or my son. He has Tourette's and he flaps his arms when he tics. I just hope there's some left. We've had to replace a few tvs and remotes due to them flying all over the place

ordered thanks. you don't get confirmation after hitting the submit button but you just get a blank form again which i found confusing so i ended up ordering twice. oO

hope they come.

Ordered one for my SN daughter, got conformation email from sky, so fingers crossed.

Thank you for the post Duggie.

Phoned the accessible team on above number as I am registered with them as a disabled customer. I was told that they are out of stock. I told them that I had tried to get one the last time it was mentioned on this site and was told back then it was out of stock. I asked if I had tried to get one before and they were out of stock. Why did I not receive one this time around when they came back in stock. She told me that she could see that I had tried to get one before, so they will now endeavour to send one out to me. Good luck to any fellow disabled customer trying to get hold of one. Thank you for the reminder, heated.

I ordered one of these in 2007, I have sever disability in my hands, and yes it was ideal for 6 - 7 months, then it stopped tried every quality of battery, checking each in my old remote all worked it became a useful toy or my grad kids :-(

I am registered disabled & have tried to get one but they're out of stock. I hope only genuine people have applied for one.

Banned

Dunno why people are getting all heated up about non-disabled people ordering them - anybody who doesn't get one or has to wait for a new batch is no worse off than they are right now.

I wouldn't call myself disabled, but my eyes aren't what they used to be and I can't read the text on my original remote.

Hot but don't need one as mine is fine

My son is disabled and can't walk but he can use a normal remote so won't be ordering even though he qualifies

Hot! Didn't order...as its for those who need!

Also if you one breaks...call them up...if they try charge you...threaten to leave...and they will just give you a free one !

The only bad thing about sky is that I have been with them a year...and still pay full rate...and they never offer me 25% or 75% off!

Out of stock

Oh fair enough. I didn't read properly and thought that Sky were just giving them out, and I was wondering why people were against a free deal

In that case, I'd probably rather not as well. Also, I suppose I am "visually impaired" though that doesn't really count as a disability

Grrrr Ffs this would have been really useful if they were in stock

hopefully i would get one. thanks

got an email from sky this morning to confirm the order at £0.00 so hope it comes.

i tried to order one the last time but it ran out very quickly and they said they would get new stock but that you could not order in advance. not sure what sky is up to as i don't see why people can't register for the next batch.

got mine delivered yesterday. looked well cool.

buttons are slighter larger so great for using in bed.

Iv ordered one for my father in law who had MS and can't grip properly hopefully he will get one unless all you able bodied greedy people have taken them all, one of his pleasures he has left is watching movies and he finds it hard to change channels sometimes, not a big deal to all the people who just want a freeby but it's a big deal to my father in law who can't press buttons properly.
