I just came across this app.

It's called TEXTFREE

It provides you with a US Mobile number which enables you to send and receive texts free from the USA.

Great for contacting friends & family!

I HAVE PROVIDED THE DOWNLOAD LINK IN THE FIRST POST

If you're phone is rooted then check out the application in the 1st post. Install it, then backup the market settings and choose 't mobile usa'. The sms app should then appear free in the market. After installing you can then restore your original market settings

I've tried your suggestion, however I still can not be able to find the application in the market. My phone is rooted, i've given root privileges to the MarketAccess App upon installation and I've emulated T-Mobile USA. I go then onto the Market app and I can't see the free SMS app.
It would surely help if you gave the SMS application name in order to look for it through the Android Market Search.

I've updated the OP and 1st post with the direct link of the application file

Thanks

Got stuck when putting in zip code, used to live in New Hampshire and put in my old zip code with no luck. Anyone got past this point?

Put in zip code for NYC, and worked.

Don't see why it shouldn't

Here's a list of ZIP codes for the Columbia area, asks it asks you to enter a US zip code during the sign up process (to produce a US mobile number)
