Over 300 free things to do in London including museums, galleries, historic sites, public works of art etc.

Looks like a good source of ideas for a cheap day out.

Drive by shootings, muggings and riots aren't mentioned though!! :-)

In 30 years of visiting London I have never experienced one of these. Unfortunately I see stupid comments like this online every single day though.

think you pay extra for them.

Thanks

shame you need to spend £12 on a travel card to get into london, rather than a £1.60 bus fare like normal cities in england (thats if you cant simply get around them on foot, perfectly possible in most towns/cities here)

Huh? A bus costs about that in London. You can pay for a travel card if you want to use the train or tube, but that's fairly common in most places. Single fares might work out cheaper though.

Any personal recommendations for a young couple? We're often looking for fun things to do in London, but we've been to most the museums and most of the events on the list look rather boring to me.

I was going to say the same. A bus is £1.50 across all of London.

You are assuming you are already travelled into London in the first place.

you typically need a travelcard to get to, say an event in hackney, if you live in Kingston.

Even for the £1.50 journey, you need to buy a oystercard for minimum £10 first.

Its far more than travelling into town in other places, QED, don't pretend it isn't.

when we are talking about the vast expanse that is London, to assume that any prominent number of these 300 things will be situated at the end of a £1-50 bus journey is the height of stupidity. NO - to use the one you typically wantto use, you will typically need a travelcard.
