and its old news

I totally appreciate it's old news but I was unable to sign up despite several attempts a few weeks ago due to Virgins website. This reminded me to try again and my box is now ordered, so it's benefitted at least one person.

Thanks for posting snappyfish!

Can you get free powerline kit without Tivo upgrade? lol
Then they tie you into another 12 month contract I bet

Then they tie you into another 12 month contract I bet

nope
Does the V6 box just need a broadband connection? I have one which I’m not using as my Virgin cable comes into a room I don’t have a TV in. If I get the VM powerline kit can I set the box up in another room?!
Requires broadband connection AND fibre optic connection so with the powerline kit and the Virgin cable you should be able to access the V6 box.

Uses a network connection for catch-up TV and a cable connection for live TV. Not sure if it needs the cable to first register it/continued operation or whether you could just use the network and only have catch-up.

So I’ve just connected the V6 box to my existing powerline (not the Virgin one) and it’s saying connection not found.

Is this only possible with their powerline kit? Would be nice to get the box working in the lounge rather than gathering dust
Great little box I had mine upgraded a couple of weeks and now just as quick as my Skyq box.

I use mine through a tp-link powerline kit and it works fine. I'd recheck your equipment.

I’ve just connected it to the WiFi and it’s updating so fingers crossed. No idea why the Ethernet cable didn’t work
You also need to connect the Virgin fibre optic cable to the back of the V6 via the adapter found with the V6

Looks that way, C219 error all the time! Will have to try connecting it to the fibre optic cable...
Great box, totally worth the free upgrade. No contract

The v6 box can connect wirelessly to the hub 3, you dont need an Ethernet cable.
i had it installed last week and the Ethernet cable wasn’t long enough so just connected wirelessly

Wrong.... pasted below is from the offer.

The upgrade is free to eligible customers. There's no new contract to sign up to and your monthly cost will stay exactly the same.
Thanks OP, I didn't know about this and now my kit is on it's way to me!!
I did this in January and the order details said it'd include a powerline kit, but only the box ever arrived. Virgin just said to connect it wirelessly when asked.
Just went through the order process and despite it being a "free" upgrade it will add £1/month to my current charges. It's not clear why.

Interesting. Will wait to see what happens.
I upgraded an old VHD box to a V6 when the offer first came up, requesting Powerlines too so that I could connect the existing TIVO box to the network and so see recordings from one box to another.

Despite two online chats confirming Powerlines would be received they never arrived, only the V6 and a new Hub 3.0 (which I did not need or ask for and is still sat in the box waiting to be returned).

Multiple calls to VM were met with me being bounced from department to department with each one telling me that "Powerlines cost £59 sir, there are no current offers to give them for free" - until I lost my patience and told them to cancel my entire contract.

Was quickly put through to a Customer Relations chap who sent me a set of PowerLines out the next day for free.
Virgin is terrible
i imagine this is so they can change the encryption so they can stop people stealing TV

Yes, for me it's free, but an additional £2.25 a month on my big bang bundle (not sure if that is the bundle I'm on or they are moving me too)...

Whilst I'd like a faster box, not sure I want to give Virgin more. We seem to use iPlayer, Netflix and Amazon Prime (through a Fire TV) for almost everything that isn't live sport now anyway...

where does it say inc power line adapters? i have the box in the bedroom but never use it. Powerline adapters for free are handy tho...

EDIT : Says when u confirm inc SuperHub3. Yeah, VM are the worst - but u can't beat their BB for prices. I don't use the telly
