thanks for the info

probably cause scrap cars are still worth a wee bit in metal value alone so don't give 'em away :-D

Most scrap yards take cars with tyres, but you get less per tonne better to ask them to raise it in the air with their grabber and let you take off wheels to get best price, you will get between £70 to £80 per tonne, all day long, scrap yards are screaming for them, I know people that all they do all day is collect old cars for free and take them to the scrappers, they make a fortune.

Do you have to be the owner of the car? can I nominate a neighbours car?

lot of cash to made from scrap cars, you work it out they take free and time they sell bits of it i bet they make easy at least 100 notes then they'll weigh the rest in.Rough idea what scrap yards charge you round here

starter motor-£15
alternatior-£10
door-£10
Wheels with tyres-£10
Steering wheel storks-£10

The lists go on and on and what evers left they sell on

I think as long as you have the log book they don't care, they just sign the section saying this vehicle has been scrapped and then you send it off to the DVLA, then DVLA send you a reciept (keep this in a safe place), incase they didn't scrap it and sell it on instead, if it's envolved in an accident, or speeding fine ect, (it happens so be careful) you can prove it is no longer your responsibility.

I will recycle your old cash for free ;-)
