Thanks for the tip. Bit of a cheek to ask UK taxpayers for money to visit their own Parliament though, isn't it?

the charge is for non-uk residents (i.e tourists) which is fair enough

it has always been free for UK citizens

Its free for UK residents, you just need to ask. Non uk residents have to pay.

Thanks O.P

Visit the Houses of Parliament! I think that's the day I'm gouging my eyes out with a spoon, or maybe I'm just washing my hair. X)

We arranged a tour for our scout unit - although they weren't too impressed with what was planned for them in the end they really enjoyed it. well worth doing.

Thanks OP!

We did this a couple of years ago, my MP (or rather his secretary) was really helpful in getting it organised for us and we (2 adults & 2 teens) all had a great time on the tour.

Yet another classic comment How about 'non-uk' residents who live in the UK, and therefore are no tourists, look around, there are a few, they don't have a post it on their foreheads though.

Then if they live and work in the uk, they would just contact the MP and ask.

Can you still get in if your name is Guy Fawkes?

Asked about this in 2011 to my local MP, only to be told it wasn't available because of summer recess, lol. We went last year though and it was well worth it.

I can not recommend this enough. We went last year and was shown around by a lovely lady. Being in there was a privilege, I just wish a lot of the MP's felt the same!

We also went up the tower to see Big Ben being struck on a separate tour, which was also arranged via our MP's office, which was amazing.

Now everytime I see PMQ's or reports on the news from inside Westminster I can relate to where they are.

Priceless experience

Brilliant, I never knew about this.

There's also a free tour to go up Big Ben, much more interesting in my opinion! You arrange a tour time in the same manner.

Not quite the rest of the world. Many people would get this for free, even those who do not pay UK tax.
