Free travel insurance and £9.87 cash! @ John Lewis

Found 6th Feb 2014
I saw a travel insurance deal earlier then realised the deal I got last week blows it away. So I was looking on quidco to see who offers what cash back and found that by going with John Lewis you can get £15 cash back on any policy which crucially includes single trip policies. I'm early 30's and off to Barcelona for a stag for 3 days this year and a basic policy costs just over a fiver. I opted for the premium cover which is just over a tenner and a very comprehensive policy and essentially get given £5 for taking it out!! Winner winner etc...

Good deal if you're not going far, but its double the price for me!

Not really a deal, tried a week in Egypt and it's £50+!!!
More specific to your own needs, price needs changing as it's misleading.

It's not misleading it's the deal I got, go to Barcelona or other euro destination and make money. Would u prefer I post a 'sony tv 40" for 2p but only in 1 store for the next 10 seconds' deal that are never useful to anyone?? Can never please some people on here

And maybe that's because Egypt is not the safest place around these days mate but thanks for your comment

Just come back from Egypt and it all seems to have calmed down now, apart from a few herberts on camels giving out the eyeballs !

great deal thanks, I've taken up on this offer too.

What I'm saying is, this should come under £15 cash back rate via quidco, not 'free travel insurance' because not everyone will be travelling to the same place as you! And sharm el sheikh has never had any problems :-p

Should be moved to deals as you have to pay money up front.

Good option thanks:3

Great spot, thanks! We're going as a couple, but makes sense to buy 2 x single cover policies and get two lots of cashback! £6 profit. Thanks op.

Sheesh, does my head in people complaining when someone's find a good deal and it doesn't quite work for them.

Apart from the bombings in 2012 and 2013 and the political unrest which I'm assuming that insurance companies take into account. Great deal thanks, as I'm off to France in the summer will defiantly have a look

Unfortunately my trek to Antarctica is going to cost me £5000. The OP should have made it specific to MY TRIP and put £4985....

If you just want basic travel insurance, this is spot on!

£15.73 for me going ibiza for 2 weeks in June.. makes it 73p after cashback, nice!

Err. what bombings in 2012 and 2013? Why are people so keen to show their ignorance on this site? Is it some badge of honour that members can't spell or understand the world around them but they are incredibly good at finding offers on mars bars in Asda?

There were two bombs in Sharm El Sheikh in July 2005 and three in Dahab in April 2006.....both incidents occurred when former President Mubarak was still in power ....plus Mubarak's son has been implicated in the attacks too.....
This is not to say there won't be an attack in the South Sinai.... but if you are going to suggest such a thing - please try to be as accurate as possible.

People need to grow up and stop slagging of deals just because they don't fit your standards. Just vote cold and leave it at that! I'm off to Egypt soon so this deal is not for me but I can still recognise it's going to be a great deal for many others!

surely this is a brilliant post? You dont even need to be going on holiday, just purchase the cheapest policy you can and get the highest amount of cashback? If you dont intend on using the policy (as you wont be leaving the country) why not lie on the application to get the cheapest rate anyway.........am i missing something here

I'm with you timbeech33 money for nothing

Egypt is not Europe and it is more likely for you to be injured or die there. Europe is safe and boring and nothing will happen to you

Just attempted to take out holiday insurance going away to tunisia, holiday cover is £85 pp, ive decided this is COLD...

HOT

Couldn't you just pretend to go somewhere and claim the cashback, I don't think they are going to have people checking up on you that you actually made use of the insurance.

Love a lot of you for those comments, cheers guys! Always the minority of 'unpleaseables' on here. Maybe channel 4 could make a documentary on them!

Surely you only vote cold on a deal if its NOT a deal - not because it doesnt suit you? Dont understand all the negative comments, hot from me.

Just gone for couples insurance for 4 days in Munich later this year for £14.69 so slight profit if the cashback pays up.

Watch out for the bombs and civil unrest.

Aside from that, have fun.

cheers OP. good find

I'm going to My-Gate this summer, so this deal is no use whatsoever to me. In fact, it's made me feel bitter and jealous that you're all going away. I still voted hot though, because this is a fab deal for those lucky enough to be travelling within the EU for a short-ish trip. *goes off to sulk in the corner* :P

Worth a gamble on a useless £1.28 policy for the possibility of £15 cashback...

Very welcome post as it's worth a try, and much greater chance of success than most of the 1p Tesco (and other) deals that VERY few people find work for them. Since when did a deal have to suit a set percentage of - or even a majority - of HUKDealers????
Well done Op :-)

And well said Safeya - nice to read some intelligent, well written and pertinent information

Just tracked

Purchase amount: £1.28
Cashback amount: £15.00

Going to Sweden in March for 4 days, individual traveller, quoted as £8.18 including £500 personal belongings cover, think it's a good deal, I'm going for it.

This is why I love this site. Bought me and the hubby a £1.28 policy each that we don't need.... Worth a gamble for £30 cash back!! Nice one.

There you go chloehambrook maybe I can't save the national deficit but overall here a good £200 has been returned to the faithful public! Spend wisely people!! Haha

Any idea if John Lewis are going to credit search anyone buying these policies, given that it's a financial product and all?
