Super gesture here from London Northwestern Railway in offering free or discounted travel to poppy collectors, armed forces personnel and veterans for the upcoming Remembrance Day commemorations.

The Below Applies
  • Providing a free return journey to all authorised collectors taking part in the events.
  • The offer applies to authorised collectors attending the designated Poppy Day in London on Thursday 31 October or the Birmingham version, which takes place on Tuesday 5 November.
  • Meanwhile, veterans and members of the armed forces planning to attend the Cenotaph memorial service in London on Sunday 10 November are being offered free travel to and from the capital when wearing military uniform or on production of a Ministry of Defence ID card.
  • Armed forces personnel and veterans who are members of the Defence Discount Scheme can also benefit from 20% off Advance rail tickets over the Remembrance period - and all year round.

Chiltern Railways are extending the same.

To commemorate Remembrance Sunday, Chiltern Railways will offer complimentary travel for military personnel in military uniform or carrying military identification across its entire route. They will also provide free travel for Veterans who are carrying identification, wearing military uniform or wearing the Veterans’ badge.

The operator will provide this benefit on Sunday 11th November to honour those lost in military service and to allow current and past personnel to pay their respects at the many events held on the day.

Hope it helps someone.

Nice one!
I'd go with Chiltern though if you want any chance of getting to your destination. London NW are in a state of meltdown at the moment, every day, since at least last Friday.
what a wonderful gesture...

Chiltern doesn't cover the West Coast mainline though. Good luck using chiltern if you live in Milton Keynes lol. They still cover the Birmingham-London route though.
Probably the best hotdeal I’ve seen while using this app 🌺
