Free TV (refund) if England win the World Cup @ BestBuy

Worth a punt if you're planning on buying a TV anyway. Wouldn't advise it if you don't

Spend £499 or more on a TV before 5th June and if England win the World Cup then you get your money back.

It's more of a gamble than a deal. Nice marketing ploy though.

Wouldn't advise it if you don't:whistling: Good confidence:w00t:

not much of a deal for anyone not near thurrock

Lay England on Betfair to win the world cup to recoup some of the purchase price.

TBH I would say this one is a good deal. The other companies running similar promos are charging above normal retail price, but aren't Best Buy cheap/competitive? And they offer good advice according to Engadget (although they may pay engadget to say that...)

I've not been there yet but as soon as I have some money I am heading up to have a look at the store.

But if England win, they'll be no purchase price as you'll be getting the TV for free :-D

Same... I'm surprised this has got so cold so quickly tbh. I'm looking to get a new TV and a 1/10 chance of getting back £500 probably means I'll take a look instore.

No, or for anyone that doesn't need a TV nor those that aren't looking to spend £500 on one. Blind people probably wont care for it either, or the deceased.
As with most deals, it's only useful to those that can make use of it. For those people, it seems like a decent one.

It's been 44 since the one and only time they've won anything of note.:whistling::whistling:
Pretty safe bet bet by vendors if you ask me.:thumbsup:

terriclarkfan said laying the bet on Betfair; i.e. betting that England will loose, in which case if they win there's no payout (but a free tv) and if they loose there's some winnings.

Even safer would be to offer to pay out when Scotland or Ireland actually qualify for the finals... i'm guessing by that time we either have done away with physical notes or changed currency...

No need to be embarrassed just because everyone else on this thread walks around with a copy of the Racing Post under their arm! :-D

30 day returns policy too

but aren't Best Buy cheap/competitive?

Prices didnt look that competitive when I went there on sunday, apart from the few advertised opening weekend deals everything was around the same price as the DSG groups sells at and much more expensive than the internet.

As an example the Logitech Harmony PS3 adapter is £29.75 on (and under £40 most other online places), but is £45 at Best Buy, and all of their new(ish) console games are £39.99 (so same as other shops).

I obviously didnt check every product, but I didnt really see anything jumping out at me.

Littlewoods are doing the same deal apparently. Had a cold call about it an hour ago.
