Free Uber rides all week long in BOLTON only

Just received this email from Uber

Free Uber rides all week long

Since launching in Bolton last May last year, Uber riders have travelled more than 250,000 miles together. To celebrate, we’re giving riders in Bolton the opportunity to ride free up to £10 all week long.
From Monday, August 8 to Friday, August 12, riders in Bolton will have up to £10 off, making rides under £10 completely free—whether you're a new or existing Uber user! Riders can take a maximum of 2 free trips per day of the promotion, up to a maximum of 10 free trips during the week.

Whether it's a trip to The Valley, the train station, the grocery store, or a night out in Nelson Square with friends, you could get there for free—all week long.

How to get your free rides*:

1. Open your Uber app anytime between Monday, August 8, and Friday August 12 in Bolton

2. Request an uberX, uberXL, or UberEXEC

3. That’s it!

I don't live in Bolton but hope this works for those that do.

Uber are competing with Karhoo's £10 free rides.

We need uber in Hull and York... Used them quite a few times, they are great..

They are a global multinational, tax-dodging, investment banking funded corporation, forcing licensed cab drivers out of a living. They don't pay their drivers enough, and because of this, boast a side loan company, putting their drivers into debt, thereby securing their low-paid employment for long periods. Horrid business, essentially.

We unfortunately have Uber in the boroughs around Liverpool.
My main concern is how can they possibly crb check the drivers who have mostly only been in the uk for a very short time with some only speaking poor English.
This is NOT a racist comment just a concern.

In fairness to Uber, taxi companies/London cabbies have been slow to adopt technology and move with the times. They have left themselves wide open to something like this happening. In some ways it's a shame but the world doesn't stand still.

You can't self censor yourself then say everyone's being PC. Can't stand it when people mention non-existent PC outrage. E.g No one is banning Christmas or the word or no one is banning Easter but people keep mentioning it again and again.

My dad's a taxi driver, generally they don't like the black cabs as the councils give them beneficial treatment. He also doesn't like private firms, the tend to be corrupt and give better jobs to certain people and also sign on too many driver diluting the amount of work. Uber isn't corrupt however it is guilty of taking too much of a cut as fees and atleast in Nottingham there is barely any daytime work it's all nighttime. If it wasn't for the high fees and lack of work my Dad would probably switch to Uber.

I think most industries are wide open to being under-cut by huge investment combined with low waged staff and tax-avoidance. Not a lot you can do when someone with a lot more money than you, undercuts you using immoral means.

Also, taxis have higher costs, licensing, and regulations than Uber do, so it's not really fair competition.

But taxis also have the massive advantage (in Nottingham at least) of being able to pick up fares in the heart of the city centre which is exclusive to taxis and buses. The problem they all seem to have is not enough daytime work and there is not enough Thu, Fri and Sat night. Hopefully uber can fill this gap.

Which isn't really much use now, most people I know order their taxis in advance using Uber. Uber isn't filling a gap, it is taking money out of the pockets of hard working people, and putting it in the pockets of millionaires.

how do the drivers make their money in this free week?

Do they get the money back off uber or are the drivers going to have to do it for free as part of the deal?
