Found 20th Feb 2008
Hi

I just called Voda regarding my k800i and they will unlock it for free. Give it a try. Dial 191 now from your handset. (feel sorry for the unlocking companies, lol)

are you on a contract and near completing the contract?

Original Poster

Yes i am on a contract, but the phone was purchased as PAYG.

They are going to send the code through the post within 7 days.

Worth a try.

According to someone at moneysavinexpert

"Offtel have ruled that as of Feb 2008 all phones have to be unlocked
to all networks"

Is this worth trying on a mobile that was bought new about 2 weeks ago on PAYG? And when you ring up what do you say lol?:?

All I asked for was the unlock code, it was just that simple. When I asked how much he said free, I didnt ask again, lol.

Look u cant loose anything, just make the call, if it works, like it has done for me u will be quids in.

Has anybody else tried this yet? What was the outcome?

Anyone able to verify this, sounds too good to be true

I phoned them, and they said that they would charge me £19.99. So I declined.

in the past i think you can get your phone unlocked if you are in the last 6 months of your contract. so after 6months on a 12month contract and after a year on a 18month contract. something along those lines. not sure about the offtel statement though

Going by what it sayd on MSE I think you have to have been on Vodafone for a year to get the unlock code for free.

for clarification from mse

"Good afternoon everyone,

I can see there's some confusion here so thought I'd clarify it for you as an official channel.

Contract handsets sold on Vodafone are no longer network locked, so anyone who owns an existing Vodafone contract handset and account can get the phone unlocked free of charge regardless of the age of the handset, as opposed to the previous £19.99 inc. VAT. that applied for handsets less than 12 months old.

Pay As You Talk Vodafone handsets are still network locked, and a charge of £19.99 including VAT still applies to get them unlocked, unless the handset is more than 12 months old.

Have a nice day,

Hopefullyuseful1

My contract with Vodafone was 12-month, but they disconnected my line twice also blocked my phone after 7 months while I was fully paying them every month, just because there was a dispute on another line. I had no choice but now taking Vodafone to the Telecommunication Ombudsman.

Vodafone sucks, will never have another contract with them ever again! :whistling:

I was 11 months into my vodafone contract and got my phone unlocked after reading a post on MSE!!

They talked me through the process and it took about 5 mins.

This cant possibly be more than an april fools prank as OFTEL has been taken over by OFCOM since 29/12/03, and so why on earth would someone find a quote from OFCOM and still call them OFTEL in this day and age? Unless they didnt really know what on earth they were talking about in which case probably a load of rubbish anyway.

Am I missing something or isn't this post a duplicate of the one posted yesterday? Good deal all the same.

Edit: Ignore me, I have just realised that this thread is 2 months older than the one posted yesterday.

If you are existing voda customer pay&go or contract they will open the fone free.
The sim card u usr has to be registered with them and they will open any voda locked fone.
I asked today and got my SE k850i open.
If they cant help u open it there and then they will appy to the fone manufacturers to get the code for u free.
FREE!!!

Giving back-dated credit.

I just signed up to a new contract for vodafone. My phone came locked and i called up and asked about it. The first time i called up i would have had to wait until my contract had ended. However, i called up again later on and asked. Sent me the unlock code without a hassle  . Seems like none of the call center operators know the real rules

Virgin do this too

Thanks for this, shame I hadn't seen it earlier, just sold my K800i on Ebay, could have unlocked it first and pushed the price up a little.

Just unlocked my old Motorola V550, worth a fiver now!

Saved a tenner for unlocking in town :whistling:

Cheers, heat and rep to op and original op

great stuff, thnx!!!

Gave heat to the one in deals and you got there a couple of months earlier!!!
Well spotted, heat added.
Shame you're not getting all the heat Captivo is getting in the deals section, so Rep too!

I was given the code by vodafone, but not the instructions on how to do it.

Can anyone help??

This has already been posted under deals;

Anywayz; if you dont want to call and waste 25p then email these guys;

NUC.Resolutions@gb.vodafone.co.uk

be sure to tell them your

make/mode of phone - so they can give you instructions on how to unlock you phone, this is the only purpose of this!

and your *#06# IMEI number so that they can provide your NUC - Network unlock code for you, they may have to request this from the manufacturers so you will have to wait a possible 72 hours, but if you provide them with an email address they will email this to you, so you wont have to ring up at all and then it costs you absolutely zilch.. zero nothing!!

Have fun!

this was on another thread (hottest one last week at over 1300)

No problems, no quibble, just emailed me the code.

Someone on another forum got the unlock code for me (they are on vodaphone)

Does anyone know how to do it on a sony E K800i?????

Heat added!

I just saved the £12 I was going to pay through Ebay to get the Mother in Laws phone unlocked!

And don't spend a penny but use inclusive airtime on any network to call the "Calling from outside the UK number" : 07836191191.

I agree. It's not irrelevent, Voda do suck and this thread should not make people think that a new Voda contract is the way to go. Their customer service is utter hogwash, and so is their service.
