If you are paying £16.99 for rental then it is not free I am afraid. There was a deal from sky about two months ago with £100 credit etc which was knocking off the rental for a year too and that was a free internet.
Interesting offer if it fits your circumstances (already need a phone line and possibly on a fixed deal from First Utility). I assume it's re-packaged internet service from BT.

Personally I have no need for a phone line so Virgin Media broadband-only is pretty much my only choice.
terrible customer service so why bother
yep. i got this. in actual fact with the credit sky gave you back in voucher form as well as the rebate from top cash back, i got paid to have sky broadband

i must add that it is painfully slow though. i am miles away from the exchange server, which means i get dreadful speeds. but being paid to have it... i musnt grumble.
worst customer service ever, if you take this up you will reget it...
Terrible customer service & finance department. It took me more than 6 months to get my refund back after more than 20 calls for the last 6 months... Will never ever use this company again unless they are free!
The customer service at First Utility is terrible, I moved over to GB Energy Supply after months without a bill from First Utility and have found GB Energy Supply first class
If it's anything like their energy policy they'll really bumb up the fixed fees after they've drawn enough in. We had them then the standing fee went up over 1000% so they could claim their useage price low. Horrid company to deal with to.
Gotta be better than Talktalk, but that's not saying a lot
Its high time all of the broadband providers stopped ripping people off with the £16/18 a month landline charges when they know full well a very high percentage pf people no longer use a landline. Virginmedia offer Broadband only but what you pay isn't much cheaper than being forced into paying for a landline that you have no use for.
As far as I can see this is restrictive practice which I thought was illegal but I suppose all of the overpaid Oftel executives are far too busy to investigate this practice.

MSE posts show a different story with few having direct debits taken before service starts
been with firstutility for 6 months now.brilliant.phoned the customer service line once had to wait mabe 10/15 mins that's all and the rest of the comms i did over email which there fast on. saved me £240 a year over british gas dual fuel ect and got the energy saving club payment of £30 through switching through them plus intoduced a mate to first utility and got £30 paypal gift code and so did my mate. my monthly DD is £50 so no longer the £120+ winter bills no more. if first utility beats sky unlimited 17MB broadband and sky talk extra inc line rental for £25.40 a month inc caller display then i might be tempted.
Moved to FU from BG, been with them for 3 years and can honestly say I've not had any issues. Always been cheaper but I never have had to contact customer services asbI do it all online so cant comment on support.
I am happy with them.
