Free WhatsApp for your PC! No more having to use your phone in the office!

Today, for the first time, you will have the ability to use WhatsApp on your web browser. The web client is simply an extension of your phone: the web browser mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device -- this means all of your messages still live on your phone.

To connect your web browser to your WhatsApp client, simply open web.whatsapp.com in your Google Chrome browser. You will see a QR code --- scan the code inside of WhatsApp, and you’re ready to go. You have now paired WhatsApp on your phone with the WhatsApp web client. Your phone needs to stay connected to the internet for the web client to work, and please make sure to install the latest version of WhatsApp on your phone.

**UPDATE**
The messenger's web client now works on both Firefox and Opera (as well as Chrome)

**UPDATE**
Now works on ios (as well as Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone)

More of a freebie that people may not be aware of. Currently people may be using Hangouts/Skype etc for chat on PC, and today Whatsapp became a free alternative!

Thanks! Didn't know about this

I cant see the whatsapp web option in the app. Its the most recent version...

Android only

There's an alternative method too; you load the BlueStacks Android emulator on your computer, and install WhatsApp onto that.

(I have to say that I had mixed success getting BlueStacks going a year or two ago...)

For people who cannot find the option within the app to scan the qr code, please do the following :

1- Go to the following link on your cellphone and install the Whatsapp apk. (it's safe)

apkmirror.com/apk…pk/

2- Reboot cellphone

3- Go to menu, click on WhatsApp Web, scan qr code on PC monitor.

4- ???

5- Enjoy whatsapp on the Web

If that doesn't work, try clearing the cache for the app...

oh good lord, only on chrome. well i suppose its one way to get people to use chrome.

Google chrome only, wipes out use for the majority of us.

Does it update last seen for those who use it on the phone as well?

this... is amazing. thank you!

Out of interest what browser do you use? Chrome can be installed without admin rights for most people.

Firefox, think the work does have Chrome tho,

Will this bypass any logging/monitoring crap they might have working in the background at work?

? GOOGLE Chrome is owned by Google? .. & this is an 'ANDROID ONLY' Offer/Freebie? .. & surprise surprise! .. Android is 'GOOGLE Owned' too, so ..... (do you smell the common theme here? hahaha) lool. :-)

IF this was an iOS ONLY Freebie Apple would be within their rights to demand the same too dont you think? .. eg. ONLY works with Safari Web Browser or something?, so I dont see what the problem is really ..... (Ps. incidentally, Safari in personal opinion is more obscure, & less competant for my liking than that of Chrome anyway?!) .. what can I say .....

Nice one...thanks

This works on Windows Phone, Blackberry, and even Symbian as well, so it's definitely not exclusive to Android alone.

Telegram FTW

if they're not using keylogging software, then since it's a secured connection they won't be able to see the usage but they can easily find out what site you vistied.

Do not do this. Downloading apks from random dodgy sites is the main way to get malware on your phone.

If Google Play isn't showing the latest version of Whatsapp for you, you can download it directly from the Whatsapp site. No need for shady apk mirrors.

If anyone on Android is having trouble finding the "WhatsApp web" option in their phone app's menu I'd recommend ensuring you're updated to the latest version. If you are and it's still not there (as it wasn't for me) then backing up your messages and reinstalling the app worked a charm for me. But ensure you are backed up!

If only there was an iOS version. Must be a way around it on a Jailbreak?

For those who don't know about it, an app called AirDroid let's you do lots of things on your phone through your PC e.g. send texts, transfer files, view the camera, push URLs etc.

Also, I'm another vote for Telegram. Better app for free. Just a shame more don't realise.

It's not android only, it works on windows phone, blackberry, blackberry 10 and nokia s60 apparently (according to their web site).

Brilliant write up here: androidpolice.com/201…os/

the comments sections have got some solutions to any issues

You do need the latest Whatsapp for android it can be found on Play Store or the apkmirror link above...I haven't had a chance to try it

Also, there are some caveats in using this as it mirrors the content but the write up above explain what works and doesnt.
