What headphones 🎧
Considering during the checkout it says

Receive a Wireless Headphones with this subscription

I'm guessing it's not going to be anything worth while!

Certainly not the ones pictured, that’s for sure. It’ll be a Bluetooth set with a wire between each earphone.
By heck The Economist is really pushing the boat out,two empty cans with a piece of string..
I like how the picture in the link shows a pair of wired earphones...
I've subscribed, confirmation email just says wireless earbuds, but no details of make or type? I will phone them tomorrow try to find out what type of wireless earbuds!

Just had a quick call to the Economist, (the woman sounded posh and very sexy, sultry voice, I didn't want her to hang up) she said she definitely can confirm the earbuds are as ops deal photo and are true wireless earbuds, but she couldn't confirm make/brand! She did confirm however that my earbuds have already been posted to me on the 29 the March (actually my birthday) so hopefully should receive this coming week! So now I will cancel my subscription
So I take you can't cancel subscription via account, looks like you have to phone cs! Mind you I've not actually activated my subscription yet! So with a bit of luck I might not get charged anything after phoning to cancel and receive my earbuds

Hopefully mine will have been posted too as I went for the deal before posting it on here. I’ve also activated my subscription. There was a good couple of articles.

Anyone received theirs yet?

Nada so far, the girl informed me mine had been posted to me on the 29 th March, so taking into account it was just before Easter bank holiday, they may not turn up until next week
The picture in question is a picture of the bragi earphones, it'll be really interesting if that's what they are shipping out

Yeah, so I'm guessing it has to be a bragi clone of some sort.
So, any update on what kind they are? Thanks.

No show of mine as yet and apparently they were shipped out on the 29 th March I will give them another phone call later! Anyone had any £12 debits taken for first month yet I have not,but I did notice on my Economist account that I'm supposed to activate subscription, so I guess that's why I haven't been charged yet

I just spoke with Economist again 02075768448. I was informed the delivery of free wireless earphones can take up to 28 day's, they estimated I should of received by end of April! Supposed to be delivered by a courier (not postman) they couldn't say which courier company! They can give you a reference number at end of phone call, so they have a record of your details including phone calls made.
So if I start to count down day's for estimated delivery I would start from Tuesday April 3rd, as don't think they would have shipped anything until after Easter bank holiday! So estimated days so far at 8, only 6 if they don't include weekends!,so could be at least another 20+ days yet

Ditto! Can take up to 28 day's to receive free wireless earphones
Just had this reply via the Economist Facebook messenger
"Thank you for contacting The Economist.
Please be advised gifts/premia can take between 4-7 weeks to be delivered, especially if we are low in stock for a particular item.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope you will receive your gift as soon as possible.
Kind Regards
The Economist Online Team"
I believe there's some subterfuge afoot. Delay tactics.

I suspect the offer may have been more popular than planned.

I think your right, I'm gonna phone and ask again if they can't reassure me what type/make of wireless earphones and when I'm supposed to be actually recieving them, I then ask for refund and cancel subscription

I phoned again, and asked if it's 28 days or 4 to 7 weeks before receiving free wireless earphones, as their Facebook dept informed me, she started getting nervous stuttering her replies, then said better to ask the Facebook team as they actually process the free gifts etc and would have more information. I asked for a contact email/telephone number so I could get quicker answers to my queries but she said Facebook team don't have a email/telephone she also said that the free gift is not gauranteed to be shipped out due to opt out clause plus lack of stock in some cases! It's now been more than 24 hour's still waiting on a diffinitive answer from Facebook team

The offer is still active and still states free wireless headphones for signing up. They’re going to struggle to justify not supplying them and I’ll be asking form my subscription to be fully refunded if they pull that one.

Mine are well overdue now. Even the reply I got from customer services said they’d be here a week ago. Now I’m getting no reply at all.

Very poor from the economist.

I originally phoned them was informed mine went out for delivery end of march, but can take up to 6weeks, then I messaged them via Facebook messenger, took them weeks to answer ,they said can take 4 to 7 weeks plus also dependant on whether they still have stock (if ever) I'm beginning to think it's all a con! Messaged again, Almost two weeks no reply from Facebook dept

I just spoken with sexy girl again on 02075678448. Asked for update, informed her been waiting since beginning of April, was given conflicting info as when to receive gift. She put me on hold, then said seems gift may have been lost in transit! So will send out more from today and as goodwill gesture extended my subscription for another Month free, I forgot to ask how much longer to wait for free gift

I suspect these gifts are not coming.

I’ve cancelled my subscription to the magazine. It’s a shame because I quite liked reading it, but I don’t give my money to companies that don’t honour what they advertise.

I would encourage all those who have still yet to receive them to make a complaint to the advertising standards authority.

There’s absolutely not a chance that they’ve lost everyone’s earphones which leads me to question of they were ever sent out in the first place. The ASA can look in to that and if necessary take action against them if they’re found to have acted dishonestly.

I will give it another week if nothing turn's up, I will phone once more and ask how much longer, and inform them I will be contacting ASA.
