Free World of Warcraft With 30 Day Free Trial For Those That Purchased Starcraft II @ Eu Battle

Received an email from Blizzard Entertainment and sure others will have who purchased the game.

"Joel,

Thanks a lot for being an early supporter of StarCraft II. The community is off to a great start, with over four million players worldwide and I'm pleased to report that the rumors of the death of real-time-strategy gaming have been greatly exaggerated.

As a thank you for your early support, I've flagged your Battle.net account to receive a free, downloadable copy of World of Warcraft. This is the full version of World of Warcraft that we sell in store and includes a 30-day subscription. Just follow the instructions below to activate it, download the game, and start playing. Again, it's totally free. "

How cold will this go...

Being a recovering WoW addict... Ok, I was not completely addicted, I managed to keep my gf and did not fail my education... But the problem is the game is highly addictive, not because of the game as such but because of the people you make friends with! I still keep in contact with a couple (literally a couple).

This might also go cold because a freebie has no cost at all, this is free normally (or is it 10 days trial) + you have to buy something.

Original Poster

I thought it would fall under Freebies as its for those who have already purchased Starcraft II
This you get the game for free and 30 days for free... sure you have to pay if you continue playing but that doesn't have anything to do with the deal itself

This offer isn't for anyone, just those that purchased Starcraft II and are eligable, I don't see why it would be voted cold or not be considered a freebie

Most people won't tell you why they are voting cold (which I hate), just letting you know why I think they would vote this cold.

It's because it's not really a freebie, ie, I've never played WoW, so I should be entitled to a 30 day trial....

What is the point in buying an extension for it to get a "free" trial? There isn't.

P.S... I didn't vote... I'm just telling you why.

Starcraft 2 is a different game by the same developers, it's not a WoW expansion

Sorry didn't realise that.. either way you have to spend something to get it, so it's a deal not a freebie.

Original Poster

but it's for people that had already bought Starcraft II with no idea they'd be offered the chance to get Wow for free
Sure, it'd be a deal if it was "Buy Starcraft II now and get WoW for free"

By your logic, if you bought Windows 7 and 2 years later they say "For those who purchased Windows 7 2 years ago, you get a free year of McAfee", you'd say that was a deal and not a freebie?

Come on, man...

.. I'm a girl

and I don't know anything about this game, I didn't know it came out 2 years ago
I doubt many people scouring the freebie boards will be wanting to do a free trial of a game that you eventually have to pay for...
Love film free trial codes don't appear on freebies (not that I've seen anyway)
So how is this any different?

And again, I didn't vote cold, I just simply answered why it was getting voted cold.

Original Poster

This isn't about it being cold, it's about it being claimed to be a deal when it's clearly a freebie. You get the game for FREE, that you would usually PAY for along with a FREE 30 day trial. Of course you eventually pay a monthly subscription, it's an MMO. If you don't know anything then don't try and pretend you do, just makes you look completely ignorant.

I'm not trying to pretend I do?? I was answering why I think it's gone cold... then you started spouting some crap at me and I replied.. doesn't make me ignorant no need to be like that... and you do not get the game for FREE you get a TRIAL.. as I said.. I never see Lovefilm FREE- TRIALS posted on here.

Sure is chilly in here.

Why do you keep bringing trials into it? You get the game for free that you would usually have to PAY for and the trial is just a bonus, do you even know how MMO's work? It sounds to me like you just don't want to admit you're wrong.
Edited by: "topsup" 22nd Mar 2011

Because you have to pay for the game to use it. Yes it may be a free download that you usually pay for... but in the end you have to pay.

THAT'S HOW MMO'S WORK
MONTHLY FEES

You expect them to get you an MMO that's 100% free? lol.... you must be trollin', nobody is this silllly

now can you please for the love of God, stop digging yourself deeper?

.... Whatever. I told you why it was getting voted cold.. no need for all this tbh was there? But seriously.. a free program to download.. that you can't use after 30 days.. whoopy doo dah.

Right, just because you don't think it's great doesn't stop it from being a freebie. Just stop being a complete moron and move on from this

You keep saying that yet you keep replying too. And it's obviously the majority that don't think it's great.

Original Poster

Obviously but regardless of them thinking its not great its a FREEBIE
learn to read, Jesus Christ
You have no common sense at all...

Yes, a great FREEBIE that you have to pay for.

She's kinda right man ¬_¬.
Yeah they give you the game for free, but you then have to pay to play it. That's a deal...

The way you're selling it is:

Yeah this Xbox 360 comes with FREE Xbox live as you get Three 1 month trails as you make accounts.

But its not free XBL because you have to pay for it after.

It would be a better Freebie if they didn't give you Warcraft, because then you wouldn't be tempted to pay subscription and you would save more money...

hotukdeals.com/dea…632

Note how this Buy One Get One Free is listed as a deal because you have to pay for something before you get the free item.
Just like yours, you have to pay before you get the free item. So its a deal. =]

Original Poster

but you're aware that you're getting those with the item, thus it's a deal. This you are completely unaware of, they just give it you as a freebie months after you purchase the game. You'd be correct if you got WoW for free when you bought Starcraft II but this isn't the case.

I don't see how you can't see this... IF someone were to purchase Starcraft II now, they wouldn't be eligible for the freebie. They aren't doing it as a deal so people buy Starcraft II and get a free copy of WoW, they're doing it as a freebie for people that had already bought the game. Me purchasing the game months ago, I received this for free with no idea I'd be getting it at all, so it's a freebie.

and @Dehumanization:
You DO NOT pay for the game itself, you pay for the subscription afterwards, like with all MMOs. Normally you would PAY for the World of Warcraft disc but with this it's free, so it IS a freebie.

I feel I just keep repeating the obvious to you, is it really going over your head each time?

That's like saying getting an online pass with an EA Sports game is a freebie?
Or getting a month gold when you sign up to Xbox live is a freebie?

How? You KNOW you are getting those, thus it's part of the deal... you basically said the same as the other guy. If you are unware you are going to get something and get it months after you have bought your product, it's a FREEBIE.

If you bought a keyboard and 6 months later the same company emailed you and said "Hey because you bought our keyboard, we are going to give you this mouse for free for supporting our company, this is only available to people that bought the product in the first month," That is a freebie.

Use your head, guys.

Yes but you were saying that it is a freebie because you usually have to pay for the game. Chances are that if you were willing to pay for warcraft.. you would already have it, it's the monthly fee's that people don't want to pay, I doubt anybody cares if the game is free.

Pointless argument is pointless.

Yes, meaning it's still a freebie... I never claimed it to be a great freebie but it's nice for those that are interested in trying WoW out as they get to try it for 30 days for free, with the full retail game. If they decide they don't like it, then they don't have to continue.

If people don't want to pay the monthly fee after, then so be it. I don't see how that gets in the way of it being a freebie...

Yup but when people can't comprehend such things as

If you get the free item with the product = deal
If you get the free item months after you buy the product, no idea you're going to get it = freebie

I feel I need to give them a little help in at least attempting to understand such simplicity.

People being who? Me or the majority? AGAIN.. I was just telling you why it was going cold, when you were saying you don't get why it's going cold...

If somebody slept with a prostitute... and a few months later realised they had herpes... did they effectively pay for herpes?

and then you went on to try and say why it's not a freebie.. when it is. lol

Well, considering they most likely didn't want herpies then no, they would have paid for the sex... getting the herpies would just be an unfortunate "bonus" but they should have known the risk/possibility. Also, herpes wouldn't just appear out of nowhere after a few months. This wouldn't be a choice either, plus it is bad. Awful analogy.

Herpes doesn't always show straight away so it could. And okay... I'm bored now.. Have fun on your 'free' games.

I would but I'm not interested in playing World of Warcroft.

Ok, I dont know how to do that quote thing, so I'll just use quotation marks.

"IF someone were to purchase Starcraft II now, they wouldn't be eligible for the freebie."

Then why post? I'm sure everyone who bought Starcraft however long ago you needed to buy it has recieved the e-mail and are aware of the deal.

Maybe thats why its been voted so cold ¬_¬
