For young people aged 11-25 in Scotland, there's a free proof of age card. Probably most folk in Scotland know about it cos many schools use them, but just in case, here's the info:

The Young Scot National Entitlement Card is available free of charge to everyone aged 11-25 living in Scotland. Use it for money off the things you love, exclusive rewards, proof of age and much more.

Prove Your Age
Every Young Scot card has the PASS hologram, making it as credible as a driving license or passport in Scottish law for proving your age.

Money Off Travel
If you’re 16, 17 or 18 (or a full-time volunteer) you can get special deals on travel using your Young Scot card, including 1/3rd off bus journeys and up to 50% of train travel within Scotland.

Great Discounts
Save money with hundreds of discounts using your Young Scot card! Get great deals from big names like Arnold Clark Car Rental, the Co-operative, Scotmid, Schuh, Topshop, Go Ape!, Historic Scotland, Knockhill and many more.

Jings. Didn't know this was still going. Must be 30 yrs at least since I had one, kept it going after I was 25 just for the discounts. No deal websites or t'interwebs back then.

honestly don't know if there is. i posted this citizencard deal earlier tho - gets you proof of age (any age, not just young people) for £8 and 7% discount with love2shop for over 18s, but not as good as the young scot card

personally i don't get my kids young scot cards til they're 16 cos i don't like that it's a government body storing all their info, but i'm sure i'm in the minority! we have citizencards if needed til then.

A lot of the councils now use them as multi-purpose cards - so Angus use them as ID cards, for discounts, library cards etc. My son's also acts as his bus pass.

The difference is when I was young, we had to pay for them - they get them for free now.
Will be a life saver for the next batch of 30 year old "Child" refugees.

Shouldn't judge it by your own standards.
