Good price but pretty poor reviews. Unable to stream any of the BBC radio stations.

Firmware updated now allows BBC Stations:thumbsup:
Shame it doesn't run off battery, could do with it for the bathroom.

Hot from me. Already got a Logik internet radio and I wouldn't do without one now, so much choice its unbelievable. This is probably the cheapest you will get an internet radio for if you are looking for an introduction and this one has an ethernet port on it so you don't need a wireless network (although its obviously better with one for portablility). Will try and convince mrs that we need one for the kitchen

Was going to post this myself! Got one today, i looked at these at twice the price in the summer. Going to give it ago tonight. DAB in our house is poor and with this i can listen to the football in the garage without the crackle of am!

You won't regret it, got one today after seeing this post. Haven't set it up yet but if its anything like my Logik (and it should be better) then I will be happy. Hardly use my DAB now.

Just set up, only took a few minutes although putting in network password was a pain with the dial as its 26 characters! Updated firmware from 1.30 to current 1.51in a couple of minutes.

First impressions:-

1) Sound pretty good and not as bad as some have made out.
2) Display really good with large digital clock with day & date, current station/track streaming & scrolling news feeds.
3) Nice menu system, loads of options.
4) Easy to access music library on PC, and its doesn't miss the first few seconds of the tracks like my Logik IR100 does!
5) Build quality a bit cheap and my Logik feels like its built like a tank in comparison even though that was a budget buy too!

Really impressed so far, if reliabilty proves ok then this is a steal at this price

I've got one reserved and I'm collecting it tomorrow - I'm taking a small punt on this as at the moment it can't access the BBC "listen again" as the broadcasts are in Real Audio. Looking on a BBC blog it seems that listen again will soon be broadcast in WMA, which would make this box an absolute steal.

I bought three of these on Saturday for the Kitchen, Bathroom (it comes with a 'shaver plug adapter') and one to replace my DAB in the bedroom. This is basically three for the price of one equivilent device. I love them, and they play all my music from the server at a problem and can all play the same track at the same time (if your sad enough to try it!)

This is simply excellent value !!! Marked as £69 and went through till at £29 !!
There were 5 in Newport PC World - I bought 2, one for the kitchen and the other for the bedroom.
Works excellently and update is easy.
:-D Great find

Stop dithering and just go and buy one!!!!! Honestly for £30, no-brainer. I haven't bothered with a DAB radio, i couldn't see the point, you turn a radio on and you listen, who cares how the music gets there. It was only when i started using the Musicpal, it dawned on my how much choice there is, why restrict yourself to what you get with a DAB radio when you have the whole internet to play with!! I think its great!!

I brought this at £80 a good year ago, within months the new firmware sorted out the BBC issue. Streams music from windows PCs no problem.

Just watch out if your on a tiny allowance for broadband, many hours of usage will eventually leave you dry.

as usual with these...my local stores. "NO STOCK"....how irritating
no the fault of the OP but..!

Nothing in central London at all.

Had one in Plymouth which I reserved.

Then got a phone call from the staff advising that "it was a broken ex-display model".

Yeah right.

Do you vote cold quite a lot?

None in London at all..

Really would have liked one of these, but there's none that I can find across the south of england at the moment - tried Dorset right up to London, and nothing's showing.

Can't find any in the north west either....

Good price if you can find one, but none in stock anywhere near Manchester and not available for home delivery.

I have had one of these for almost a year now - and they are amazing!
Mine is in the kitchen and is great to listen to while cooking dinner and what have you.
It also streams music from your PC so you can listen to your cd collection from anywhere you decide to place it.

This is so worth buying - I have found so many great radio stations from all over the world thanks to this bit of kit

Just done a search for the midlands - no stores showing any in stock either! Perhaps they will be getting some more...but knowing how sh*te PC World usually are I doubt it!

When I was in Lincoln PC World last night they had 2 shelves full of these at the end of the isle near the wireless routers if that's any help to anyone?

I was in PC World in Bolton on Monday and thay had 2 of these but they were unboxed and in the clearance section. Didn't have any software with them either.

If the website says not in stock for collection, then it may be worth giving the store a call. I was told a while back that when stock goes below 5 in store it will show as not being available to collect online. This is due to the chance of 5 people instore having hold of the item and not gone through the till yet. Worth a try!

You can download software at www.musicpal.info but you don't need it for the unit to work - but if it's on clearance do make sure it comes with the power brick...

Been playing with mine and just came across this page which gives all the BBC podcasts in a fairly MusicPal friendly format
bbc.co.uk/rad…re/

Not quite "Listen Again", but a good start

EDIT: stacked high in PC World Chesterfield yesterday, I reserved mine and found they had a full pallet of them!

No stock near me.

Wolverhampton had some, I got mine a couple of days ago and there were 5 left on display down the MP3 aisle. It said there weren't any when I tried reserve & collect online so don't trust it!! Also worth checking out Currys too, they have stocked them before. Although it doesn't appear online, you can still find a cached Currys web page in Google search from their web site on 27th Dec so they have only just removed it. I wouldn't go out my way but worth checking out the stores if you are passing

cheers to OP - picked one up at St Helens today.

Can't fault it - wall to wall folk music on demand!

I believe there are other channels too but this works for me!

Oh and for the folks looking - the chick at St H said they were getting rid of all the clearance stock tonight, so if yours is still open, GET IN QUICK.

Chesterfield may have had a pallet of them, but showing no stock now. Barrow-in-Furness are still showing stock online, as are Truro, Gloucester and, I guess, a few other places.

Heard the Beeb are going to be putting Listen Again onto MusicPal friendly WMA soon, could be as early as the end of January.

Picked mine up this morning, 30mile + round trip, well chuffed...
Volume knob broken off, unit really scuffed and no power brick obviously an ex display by the sticker on the front. Now for another trip just for a refund

I'd kick up a real fuss, see if they'll give you an alternative radio

Picked mine up today. Had to go to Charlton to pick up

Still, I combined it with a nice walk in Greenwich park after which was nice.

So far so good. New in box so no blemishes or missing accessories. Only thing was the wireless was a bit time consuming setting up (turns out it doesn't like some types of wireless encryption). All working fine now though - listening to loads of stations all over the world!

Always check your stock before you leave.

It was dark and I took a quick look and the securiy seal as intact but they had slit the other end with a knife

I had a similar experience - I did a collect in store and got given a sealed unit. When I got home I saw a "customer return" label underneath the seal.

Took it back today and told they had no more in stock so had a refund.

Then walking around store saw two shelves full of them - some of which were marked as returns or ex-demo but half were still sealed. Picked one of those up instead.

Just got it connected up and connected to network straight away (WPA protection) and then did the update to 1.51. After finishing the update I had to power cycle before it would connect to the network again but since then it's been fine.

Apparently also worth registering on freecom.vtuner.com/ to add channels that the default package doesn't have.

Rang up customer services this morning and reserved one at my local branch (aintree, liverpool)

They were showing up as out of stock online but cs said they had some in so it's worth ringing up to check if your local stores have got stock in and reserve that way

Very easy to set up and it's a good little unit,i'm well pleased, voted hot
